How many millions of pounds is it going to cost over the years to keep her alive in solitary confinement ?

Interested to see what happens to those in executive positions who turned a blind eye to it, or just didn’t want to deal with it. Must be an element of sustained neglect in there somewhere.

I don't know of a word that can really sum up how appalling this story is. Reading the whole catalogue of events- from the doctors forced to apologise to her about their reporting of their suspicions (largely at the behest of her dad) to the stories from the parents. I have to assume at some point corporate manslaughter issues will be raised. I wonder what the hell her dad thinks now. Imagine having a child you went to battle for who turns out to be a child killer. Imagine any of it.

People working in clinical environments often bemoan the vast amounts of time that is taken up with the reporting of clinically untoward incidents. It is an enormous time drain but they all contribute to identifying themes and trends. It makes me ill to think about those who had concerns being told to wind their necks in. Nobody reports and investigates things that they don't have to. ESPECIALLY reporting people that you work with - it's been my experience that people will shy away from this at all costs - even when they absolutely should.

And yes, Samoan- there seems to me to be no way that she will ever be able to be anything but in solitary. Ever.

If the latest unconfirmed reports of her having potentially harmed dozens of babies at different hospitals are true - they may have to build her her own prison!

Apparently after the accusations had been dismissed by health service managers, she was to be given support for a master’s degree or advanced nurse training and offered a role at a top children’s hospital - according to the Sunday Times.

I didn’t see that - I saw that she was moved to the clinical risk department for a while. Where, if any clinical reports would have been made by anyone in relation to anything she had been involved in, she would have been able to see them!

I've never understood why nurses choose this speciality, except perhaps if she or he has a family history of losing a sibling at this age.
It was a standard part of RGN training - I'm thinking back to the mid/late eighties - to experience a SCBU and what I remember is the atmosphere of tension and unhappiness and also the uncomfortably high temperature. Strictly observation only - we weren't allowed any closer than about 2 metres from the incubators and of course we had no interaction whatsoever with the parents. It was a miserable place and I was relieved when the required 5 days were up.

Wonder if there will ever be a time when she might offer some sort of reason why she did what she did? I doubt it.

Wonder if those who enabled her to do what she did will face some sort of justice, or will they just be promoted?
