Roger Whittaker - 87.
I thought he had already matured when my parents played his records back in the 70s.
Must have produced more albums than James Last!

Same here. He was also popular around here because of his French recordings.

Plus I never realized he was British. I had German in my head.

RIP

Adrian Street - flamboyant wrestler - prominent in the 70s and 80s

I recall reading this article when he died last month.

A great photo - an ex-miner

Best football fight ever

Proper fisticuffs from 2 England team mates

Not like the sad slapping that you see these days!

Franny is the core of my my only proper football story; the first, and last, time my dad ever took to a proper footy match in the 70s. 1973!

I was a 9 year old Leeds fan with my mate David; "look, just don't say anything or be happy if Leeds win, OK?"

We were behind one goal, Leeds scored at the other end " shut it!"

Then Franny was in on goal, he shot, it flew way over the bar, he ran towards me shouting out words I'd never heard before; f words c words xxx words, he wasn't best pleased.

Shit day out, I believe may mates dad, Uncle Pete, had to pay local scales on Moss Side a fair amount of money to keep his Capri from harm

Sems no one has yet mentioned the passing of Terence Davies, one of our finest film makers. Distant Voices Still Lives is a work of genius.

Whittaker was the epitome of Anglo-Saxon, but I didn't need animal noises in "If I Were a Rich Man". Still, nobody could whistle like whistling Whittaker. RIP

Distant Voices, the only thing I have seen by Terence Davies, was a strange film. I remember people facing the camera and singing together, and not much else. RIP
