I'll never forget the excitement I felt when I heard the wah wah guitar on the "Theme from Shaft" for the first time, nor will I ever, ever forget the first time I saw the film on television, in a hotel on 42nd Street, NYC, in 1975. An appropriate place to see the film. RIP Richard Roundtree

Karl Tremblay, lead singer and leader of les Cowboys Fringants, passed away from prostate cancer yesterday at the ripe old age of 47.

This is huge in my province as he has been one of the most, if not THE most, prominent cultural icon over here for the last couple of decades. He will be sorely missed by so many people, including me. We all knew this was coming, but it still hurts.

RIP Karl, notre étoile filante.
