A beacon for Kath

Postby martha » 20 May 2023, 03:45

Hey BCBers. Our good friend Kath Mc is in serious trouble and needs financial and possibly legal assistance ASAP. She's been living with her brother in law and her sister who has Alzheimer's but out of nowhere they are kicking her and her son G. out. She has her retirement savings that she'll be able to tap in 30 days but she can't access it immediately and she's got less than 60 bucks right now. They need money to eat and they need money for temporary housing because there is a waitlist at the shelters near her. She hasn't been able to get snap or any kind of assistance yet and I'm going to help her with that. She needs a storage unit to keep Beezles art and Reap and her guitars safe. She's going to try to sell the guitars to make money if she needs to, so if you're a guitar collector maybe you could help her out and get something nice in the process.

I'm going to try to secure her a storage unit but she doesn't have a credit card so she's going to have some difficulty renting a U-Haul to move her stuff. She really can't survive without Beezles art being safe somewhere. Unfortunately I am completely tapped financially right now I'm helping a couple of different people in my life that are having a really difficult time at the same time I'm paying double rent for the place I'm currently in and the place we're moving to so I can't help financially and my help has to be emotional support and logistics and coordination as I'm completely broke right now. I'll be able to help her a little financially starting in July, but I can't really do it now so I'm hoping that I can send the beacon out asking for help from all of her lovely friends here. Hopefully some of you can step up for her because she really needs help. I sent her 20 bucks and it doubled her income!

You can PayPal her at her email. You can message her here for it or you can also message me and I'll send it to you I posted this on Facebook too.

Thank you.

I am terribly sorry to hear that.
If I know the BCB-community well, then we rally right behind her.

I'm ok with guaranteeing payment to a motel or something. The place can charge my credit card. Would that work?
If yes, just say the word.

Appreciate the offer!
At the moment having some finances herself will allow kath to find space for her and her son as well as her treasured daughter's art.

An update for folks who are asking...

Because this forum is publicly archived I don't want to say too much here.

But she is safe right now and was able to transfer some of the money folks sent to her checking account. The sudden influx of love from BCBers into her PayPal triggered the fraud system and they have frozen her account. She talked to them to try to get it fixed and shes going to wait until regular business hours on Monday to give them a call and get things resolved. I'm setting up a storage unit for her on Monday so she can keep beezles art safe.

I just finished talking to her a few minutes ago and she and her son were going to go get some groceries with the money that people have sent and eat a decent meal and try and get some decent sleep. Tomorrow she and I are going to take some time to look at emergency housing options and getting her some public assistance. I am unfortunately in the middle of moving and I'm packing my house and have to be out at the end of the month so I'm not online much right now I'm sorry for people who messaged me and I didn't get back to them until now but I'll try to check BCB everyday.

She wanted me to tell everybody thank you so much for all the love and support it really saved her because she was feeling terribly alone and overwhelmed.

Thank you Martha for the update.
Just crazy how PayPal all of a sudden turned the tap off. May have to have a word with them.

It's pretty frustrating and honestly if you have sent her something and it did not go through yet that's because she was not able to claim it. I told her to wait until Monday and try not get too obsessed with it but it's hard when that's your lifeline...hopefully on Monday will be able to resolve it.

If you were wanting to send her something to help I would wait until after Monday so she can get her account issues resolved I'll post here when everything is working for her again. But she's okay right now she can see that there's a light at the end of the tunnel and that she's going to be okay she and her son went out and got some groceries last night with money that she was able to transfer over and I'm going to help her get a storage unit things are going to be okay. That lady has good friends. Thanks to everybody who has reached out to her you guys are the best this community is so special to me thank you.

Ok she is able to take payments again. The block on her PayPal account is off and she's able to receive and process payments again. She's sending thank you letters to everybody who sends her something so you should get a confirmation that she's got it when she sends you a thank you.

Fortunately she sent me a message on Saturday so I hoped she would have been able to access that.

The PayPal flow is clear now [22/05]

I can't do PayPal so got my mate Neil Jung to donate on my behalf and I reimbursed him back (minus £1.49....) via BACs

Cash is what kath and her son need now

What are BACs? I tried Googling it but all I got was Bank Of America and Blood Alcohol Content...
