Britain is finished
Well it is isn’t it.
The only question is when it’ll happen.
If the tories won’t sanction it,the SNP will hold a Scottish indyref anyway and it’s goodnight London.
You can’t stifle democracy - it’s the will of the people!
Within this parliament I reckon.

Part of me thinks that if I were Scottish I'd be all in favour of it but it will be massively expensive and ultimately Scotland will still be run by politicians that most people will hate and mistrust, so where's the difference?

The people of Catalonia could tell them how it will turn out.

True but I don’t think they could ever hate Sturgeon as much as they loathe Johnson.

Sturgeon is quite popular but who is to say her predecessor will be? And 55% of voters didn’t vote for the snp. That said it’s looking like it’s heading in the direction of another referendum.

Quite. Though there's an important difference.
There's very little sympathy for, and even quite a lot of antipathy towards, Catalonia in the rest of Spain. When the Catalan government declared independence the whole of the rest of Spain (and half of the people of Catalonia) got behind the Spanish government's use of its power to beat up people in the streets and throw the leaders into prison for decades.
I don't think that would happen so easily in the UK.
Bugger off.

'successor'?
Unless you're referring to Alex Salmond's future popularity, of course.

The problem now is that at the last indyref. The main parties promised Devomax and more powers to be moved up here.
Then Cameron caved to the Ukip movement and we now have Brexit and powers being reinstated in Westminster.
With Labour in complete dissary from North to South, no viable opposition and now having Northern Ireland having separate trade barriers from the rest of us. With the Tories being above the law and quite willing to break any law that gets in their way. I can only see it going one way.
I'm no natural Indpendence voter but I'm now in two minds as to which way I'll vote in the upcoming elections

With the promise to join the EU as ‘new’ country, Pro Independence has a powerful card. But the cost and the disruption will be just phenomenal.

Yes the whole thing does seem different. I expect Tory England, at heart, wouldn't mind getting shot of Scotland, and Tory leaders only have to give lip service to the concept of the UK.

A pedant writes: it's the United Kingdom that is potentially doomed. (Great) Britain is a geographical, rather than a political, entity. Barring an asteroid strike, it should be around for a few millennia yet.

Re: Britain is finished
What is the real benefit of Scottish independence?
It makes little sense not to be politically welded to a larger, richer country that shares a language and culture with you and also generates a huge amount of revenue that it gives you with no questions asked. I see little to no evidence of Scottish "culture" being suppressed in any way either- its not like Gaelic is not allowed anywhere or display of Scottish customs are criminal offences.
