Getting Jab 2 on April 1.
My specialist nurse had to bully my surgery to get me on there - I've probably elbowed some poor hapless old dear off the list.

I've been talking about writing a book - 25 years of TEFL - for a few years now. I've got it in me.

It's all rather confusing here but I think I may be in the next group to get the vaccine.
They've finally accepted using AstraZeneca for people up to 65 years old and I just read that they'll be giving it to 60 to 65 year olds next. Probably won't be till June anyway, but still..
Fingers crossed.

When I first became eligible, the first appointment I could get was in May. I took it, but I kept checking each day. Then after a few days, I was able to get my first one for last week (the Moderna at CVS). Me and my siblings all have had our first jabs now and it's a great feeling to be able to even think about making plans.

Speaking of going to Barcelona, I just read that Spain is lifting travel restrictions from the UK as of March 30. True? Apparently this is as a result of the great success of the UK's vaccination efforts. Travel from Brazil and South Africa will still be closed at least until mid-April.

That may be the Spanish position (they desperately need the tourist revenue) but we're about to be prohibited from leaving England to go anywhere on holiday on pain of a £5 K fine. There will be exceptions for work reasons, volunteering, education, medical needs and to attend weddings or funerals. It's to help stall the import of the new C. variants.

I honestly have no idea. The regulations seem to change from day to day and I have a hard time keeping up. But I wouldn't be surprised. Spain's economy relies rather heavily on tourism. But ...

So it looks like Spain'll be stuffed. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there were some political motivation behind this; as in a deliberate attempt to screw Spain and other countries' economies, but it could just be science based policy because Spain has fucked up it's vaccination programme totally and the UK would be right to be wary.

Re: Will I be the first BCBer to get their covid jab....?
Much to my surprise, I just got a message saying I could book an appointment for a vaccination. I went online and I'm getting the jab on Thursday.
I indicated my joy to a friend, who wanted to know why seeing as his wife's parents are somewhat older than me and still haven't had it.
So now I feel bad.
(The reason is, that Spain is only allowing the AstraZeneca vaccine for up to 65 years old. They've got a large supply of that so they're doing 60 to 65 year-olds right now. Fucking idiots.)

Great news!
In some more rare good news, my State is opening it up to all adults as of the 29th.
I got my first shot last week so by the end of April, I should have the full benefits of the vaccine.

Isn't it odd that with all the jabs going on pretty much everywhere, Jabberwocky has not resurfaced?
After all,
’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!”
....

I've been looking each day but NY state is out right now. Also they just dropped it to 50 so I'm now open to more places. Hopefully it happens earlier.
Still can't decide what to do this summer must travel.
Watching Stanley Tucci's show is killing me to go to Italy hopefully 2022.
Iceland is high on list but prefer early fall and cant wait.
Was going to travel from Nashville to New Mexico (3 weeks) but I'm scrapping that.

amazing, what happens when there is a devoted federal push. ya know, as opposed to being "led" by a delusional, psychopathic, mildewy-brained fungus walkin in allegedly human form.
i hope everyone has access asap.
