Ever been in a fire?
Getting reports from friends in the US west with red sky pictures that resemble the Mars of Total Recall. So far they're all all right. The worst fire I was even near was no really big thing but the hills around my small upstate New York town caught fire and I got drafted to help put it out. Our Little League field was just out of town and the fire was creeping onto the grass. With a floppy heavy rubber flipper-flopper I slapped at the flames and finally saved the field! Tah Dah!
Someone must have something more harrowing that that.
in reality, all of this has been a total load of old bollocks

I'm lucky that I've never been close to a fire or wildfire. I've not heard all the details but the triplex where my mother and her family were living had a fire after WW2. Her family was rehoused in a quonset hut in another part of Brooklyn. My mother was a young teen at the time of the fire and told me that she loved living in the quonset hut and was sad when a "real" apartment was found for them and they had to move out.
If love could've saved you, you would've lived forever.
