Crankily thinking of the Coronavirus.

Postby Flower » 13 May 2020, 14:40

I'm so cranky. I hate waiting on line to get into a store, only to have them be sold out of the products that I went to purchase. I am cranky at not being able to travel. I am cranky when I see people NOT socially isolating.

I am crankily thinking that this will never be over.

No sauces today.

I'm cranky because my schedule has changed (I'm logged in to work way earlier and go to bed at all times of the day.) Same with eating, all over the map, and t's playing nasty tricks with my digestive system. I'm far too immobile and that's my own fault. Pyjamas all day and sit in my reclining chair, pc in my lap. Not healthy. :x

How's this for cranky?

Does the board really need another stupid "phuck dat shit"-type thread?

What next? Has Covid affected what you eat for breakfast?

YAY! I'm glad that you found a compatible donor for your "humor" transplant. :D

Me too! My barber retired at the end of last year so my last haircut was December 28th I think and I procrastinated about finding a new barber and then the gate closed. It's the longest my hair has been in decades. Rebecca is going to give it a trim with some special kind of shears today. At least if it's not a great job no one will see it! :)

I wonder if we'll see more shaved heads or the old "my Mom cut my hair using a soup bowl" look?

I always have my hair cut by my wife using electric clippers so it makes no difference to me.

I'm at the other end of the spectrum. Almost ready for a poney tail. Almost.

This makes me cranky!!!

Old man beats Covid-19, gets hit with $1.1M medical bill

https://www.trtworld.com/life/old-man-b ... bill-37266

A 70-year-old coronavirus patient, Michael Flor, hospitalised for over two months and doctors did not believe he would survive. Flor beat the virus and received a million-dollar of hospital bill for it.

A 70-year-old American man who nearly died of Covid-19 has been billed a heart-stopping $1.1 million for his hospital expenses, the Seattle Times reported Saturday.

Coronavirus treatment

Michael Flor was admitted to a hospital in the northwestern city on March 4, and stayed for 62 days, at one point coming so close to death that nurses held up the phone so his wife and children could say goodbye.

But he recovered and was discharged on May 5 to the cheers of nursing staff, only to receive a 181-page bill totalling $1,122,501.04, he told the newspaper.

That includes $9,736 per day for the intensive care room, nearly $409,000 for its transformation into a sterile room for 42 days, $82,000 for the use of a ventilator for 29 days, and nearly $100,000 for two days when his prognosis was life-threatening.

Flor is covered by Medicare, a government insurance program for the elderly, and should not have to take out his wallet, according to the Times.

Government's stance

But in a country where health care is among the most expensive in the world, and the idea of socialising it remains hugely controversial, he said he feels "guilty" knowing that taxpayers will bear much of the cost.

"It was a million bucks to save my life, and of course I'd say that's money well-spent ... But I also know I might be the only one saying that" the Times quoted him as saying.

A gigantic plan adopted by Congress to keep the American economy afloat through the coronavirus shutdowns includes a $100 million budget to compensate hospitals and private insurance companies that treated Covid-19 patients.

So, a $100 Million budget would cover around 97 people. :(

More mad than cranky. How can people be so stupid???

U.S. students throw coronavirus parties to see who gets sick first — and the ‘winner’ gets money

https://globalnews.ca/news/7132752/alab ... 9-parties/

A disturbing new trend has hit a group of young students in Alabama: COVID-19 parties.

The parties are a competition where people, who know they are sick with the highly contagious respiratory virus, attend parties and bet on who gets sick first.

City Council member Sonya McKinstry told CNN that the parties are mainly being held in Tuscaloosa. Infected people are encouraged to show up so others can contract the virus on purpose, she explained.

The first person confirmed by a doctor to be sick with the virus from attending the party wins the money made from ticket sales, McKinstry said.

“They put money in a pot and they try to get COVID,” she told ABC News.

“It makes me furious,” McKinstry told CNN. “Furious to the fact that something that is so serious and deadly is being taken for granted. Not only is it irresponsible, but you could contract the virus and take it home to your parents or grandparents.”
