Somewhat surprised that no one has come on to tell us how Big Pharma have come up with their miracle drug Dexamethasone, which seems to massively improve the chances of survival of those on ventilators - thereby proving all along it was all about filling Big Pharma's pockets.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-53077879

Dexamethasone is a low-cost drug which already exists and is in good supply.
The UK government says it had already stockpiled enough of the drug to treat 200,000 people, in anticipation of a good result from the trial.
The drug costs from £5.40 a day per patient and the treatment on Covid-19 patients lasts for up to 10 days.
It was first made in 1957 and became available for use in the UK in the early 1960s.
Because it's been around for such a long time, the drug is out of patent.
That means lots of different companies can make the drug and it is widely available around the world.

I'm realizing what's been missing from this discussion.

Seems to me there's been a fairly decent amount of Covidiots that have ended up sick or dying - this one's just the latest:

https://www.businessinsider.com/church- ... ing-2020-6

What I haven't seen - and maybe someone can point me to what I missed - is the story of the person who was physically harmed by wearing a mask in line with their state/area's restrictions.

All this talk of "breathing in your own C02" and "harming the body's natural defense mechanisms" - where are the damn cases?

On my local app there are several people saying "type any three-digit number and the words 'new cases' into Google to prove it's all a hoax."

Huh?

I'm no mathematician, but it seems to me it would be weirder if every possible combination didn't come up.

Just for starters, 50 states plus a minimum of 10 cities equals 60 municipalities, just in the US. Multiply that by 90 days and you've already got 5400 possibilities.

Maybe someone who's better at math can explain the logic behind it to me, but that first sentence (all over the internet, it turns out, usually unchallenged) reads as utter nonsense.

Globally there are now 9.2 million cases and almost 477,000 deaths.

Interesting since staff in hospitals have worn masks on a regular basis for a very long time with no apparent issues.

It's a little disconcerting to see California's daily positive rate jump to 7,000 yesterday. If I was out and about like pre-pandemic it would concern me more but this is mist likely due to the reopening of many businesses across the state and the parties over the Memorial Day weekend. It's not surprising but still disappointing. I am nowhere close to being ready to go anywhere that isn't absolutely necessary. That could mean I keep isolated throughout the summer but I'd rather be home than in a hospital.

Your logic is completely sound.

I think the problem is that most people aren't very curious. They see something that looks on first sight to be a coincidence and don't stop to think about why that might be. I understand that it seems very obvious to you, but most people don't think like you.

All the people at the BLM protests...

An estimated half a million people - twice the town’s population - crammed on
Bournemouth beachfront yesterday...

God knows how many fans out celebrating in Liverpool last night...

Every twat in the country planning on getting pissed up when the pubs open up again
on July 4 Super Saturday/independence Day...

The UK is seriously fucked...

I've never understood the attraction of being on a beach with that many people even without a virus. I always go to the most remote beaches I can find. A perfect day at the beach would be not seeing anyone. :? Coincidently Rebecca is going to the beach with her daughter and grandaughters as I type. The oldest girl (almost 14) is having a hard time with the isolation so her mom is taking her somewhere fun (but safe) once a week or so to help with her mental health. So far the only people I know who have had the virus are a few bcbers. No one in my area.

He's been on line very recently, but not posted.

I hope he's OK, but I'm also fine with him not posting.

Makes it so much easier to discuss things critically without his nonsense.

Just for the record, a friend of mine did the same test the nurse did above, and - shock of shocks! - got the same result. (After wearing it for an hour.)

Also, there are a lot of Covidiots on Nextdoor. Some of the more 'Jimboesque' theories I've heard there:

Governor Newsome is bringing in illegal alien patients from Mexico to beef up the COVID numbers.

None of us knows a single COVID patient. (I love that one - how the fuck would he know?)

Local health agencies keep changing their standards on whether a mask is required or not (which is to a degree true, but more about Covidiots making enforcement challenging than being indecisive).

So who needs Jimbo when there are Jimbos everywhere?

I'm this way with bars and restaurants too.

We're venturing out a bit, but if the patio is crowded we turn around and go elsewhere (not eating inside at this point).

Saw a story about one of the families who were Coviding on Bournemouth beach yesterday.

They’d travelled 100 miles to the beach and bought along their tiny kitten because the kids couldn’t bear to leave it at home.

I think the organizers of the Darwin Awards are going to have to set up a new category for Covidiocy this year.

Yesterday we passed the double whammy of 10 million infections and 500,000 deaths globally. The US accounts for aprox a quarter of both of those totals, with 46,000 infections recorded in one day yesterday. The bars in Florida & Texas are back closed, there are spikes in several States. And yet the UK leads the 'deaths per 1 million populations' at 641 (the USA is relatively small at 387).

Some horseshit.

Stop acting like babies, and wear a goddamn mask.
