We had a playful rivalry in pretty much all the cups. Never met her in person, but I really liked her in all my interactions with her. She seemed like she had a good heart.

RIP, Stephanie.

so sad. i wish her peace. she went through so damn much, yet she was always so warm and open and funny online (too many cups to count, in-joking, photoshopping mayhem, general silliness). i never heard her have a complaint for her own pain, but she never failed to be loving and to reach out to me whenever i dealt with mine.

Rayge wrote:Not claiming any special knowledge, but Steph and I have been online friends for 15 years or so, staring on the imdb music boards and then on The Refuge, as well as being responsible for my joining BCB. She was a great help when Chip died.
I suspect she may have had cancer. She survived four (I think) previous bouts of it, as well as a car crash in her teens that killed her passenger. Her husband, Ken's, death from brain cancer shattered her financially as well as emotionally, and as far as I new, she spent her last few years living with her sister Emily (the one who died on Steph's birthday). Steph had no children of her own, but she doted on her niece, Opal, Emily's daughter, and often posted pictures of her.
She had a hard and fairly wild life: I'm so sorry to hear she left it so young.
RIP Stephanie

I knew very little about her so thank you for giving some background to her life.

She was always fun and enthusiastic online and especially in the cups and a beacon of warmth and good humour amongst any bickering and negativity. I imagine her to be just the same in person. She is greatly missed on here.

What he said, on both counts.

I didn't know her, just saw her around when I popped by, but she seemed nice. I like nice people and I feel extremely sad that she's gone.

Very sad news indeed. She was always a contender, not to be underestimated, in the various BCB cups over the years. RIP

This is truly a sad day. I wish I could've spoken with Steph more, both here and on the other place. I used to speak to her a lot back on the Refuge and IMDb and she was without a doubt the friendliest, most welcoming person on all of the boards, not an ounce of negativity in her.

She was also very funny. She would send me questions in private asking about music and use that information to wind up another member of the refuge (elmnop for those in the know) who couldn't believe she was now listening to minimal techno and Norwegian black metal with all of this new found knowledge and cheekily mocking his confusion.

I miss her already but her bright disposition and silly antics will always stick with me.

R.I.P. Steph

Steph was among my oldest online friends that I kept up with, though in recent years have only interacted with her sporadically. I'll always remember her as a major personality on the IMDB Music Board at its height. My girlfriend (who never posts here) developed a closer relationship with her. Over the years as Steph revealed more details about her life, I was just dumbfounded by some of the terrible things she survived. Yet she was always upbeat and fun, never asked for sympathy or bemoaned her state. It didn't surprise me that she became such a popular poster here after the migration from IMDb and the Refuge. By the way, I'm pretty sure I was the inspiration for her screen name Loki; back at the Refuge I made some joke posts as Thor Son of Odin (or something like that) and then shortly after that she adopted the screen name Loki.
