It's an interesting one me old china because cockney slang has been around the mid 1850s and clearly Gloria Gaynor hasn't

Likewise 'I bought a new pair of Lionels'. Lionel Blair - flairs.

Some cockney slang has involved over time eg 'answer the dog me old china'' - dog and bone = phone which is post 1850...!

It's evolving with time but probably the pearly kings/queens might be of a more purist nature...

You're not wrong however in The Sweeney they refer to diamonds as 'Tom' which I reckon is Tom foolery - jewelry..

Both are correct.

One would tend to say

'the tea-leaf nicked the tom'

and

'I'm off for a tom-tit' [not a 'tom'

Sometimes there is ambiguity

Some say it is 'neck' [me included]

a bad cheque is a 'kite'

'I am going to fly a kite'

Sometimes cockney slang doesn't rhyme

Eg

Within UK money 'pony' which is £25, a 'ton' is £100 and a 'monkey', which equals £500. Also used regularly is a 'score' which is £20, a 'bullseye' is £50, a 'grand' is £1,000 and a 'deep sea diver' which is £5 (a fiver).

If I remember correctly the animal words refer to the images on Indian rupees at the time of colonialism and the Raj

I understand that the same principal of nicknaming money by the images on the notes/bills is the same in the USA and elsewhere

Groovy, but I don't have time, I have to split. What kind of help do you require?

trails no idea. Those trails you see on LSD when you wave your fingers in front of your face
tab bill X a tablet of LSD
cap finish off??? X a capsule of a drug. Mescaline often came in caps.

It's funny - nobody has indicated that they know 'almonds' [I'm sure The Slider would] - it is one I use virtually every day...!
