What does banning achieve that the "ignore" function doesn't?

One is done noisily & one is done quietly.

I guess banning is a permanent 'ignore' function that affects everybody, whether it's enacted on someone they want to ignore or not.

The way I got it figured, it's:

Coan's board=Coan makes the rules
Jethro's board=Jethro makes the rules.

Seems pretty clear-cut to me, though I also reserve the right to roll my eyes whenever I please. Which I've been doing a lot of lately.

Well, where is Jethro then?
If he initiated that Skope was permanently banned from here, what is the problem then now?

I guess it would also mean banning John from here if you're going to pull the plug on one of his aliases?

Some might have a problem with that.

For the record, I'm not in favour of banning anyone.

I presume that the people who feel the need for Coan in their life already are on his board anyway.
Couldn't give a shit about him losing his alias, the fact he handed the password to Adam makes me think be is nog coming back and serves him right for doing so.

I think to stop the use of his alias you'd have to block everything from his IP.

I have Adam C on ignore, but I read his recent insults to me when someone quoted him and so I responded.

Banning him would be my option, he's burnt his bridges too many times.

A very nasty piece of work.

Indeed but I can’t put Rayge in the same bracket as Skope, Coan and Gash. They are clearly unhappy inadequates - I might not see eye to eye with him very often (on anything much at all) but he’s really not an offensive twat. (In my book anyway.)

He is a lovely, gentle bloke with a great dog.
A real gent and a thoroughly interesting writer and raconteur.

Why he puts up with Coan's shit I'll never know, but it has probably something to do with supporting Spurs and trying to see the good in even the least of us.

I agree. He just got his knickers in a twist about prog, so conflict ensued.

I’ve got nothing against him other than that.

And don’t forget, it was Adam C stirring the shit with this thread.
