I've been here for 13 years now.

'Twas always thus.

The French Wars, the Prog Wars (multiple iterations), Spenny, Captain Sword, Jimbo, Skope, Coan, Gav, Googa (multiple iterations), Yellowjacket, Frank, etc. etc..

Did I leave any out? I'm sure I did.

Maybe it's me but hasn't the posting on BCB picked up since the other place opened? Aren't more people posting in all the forums here? Isn't BCB a kinder gentler place .. with an edge but still a much friendlier place to post?

I see more resurrection than death.

Of course it is boring to some but they are there and we are here.

BCB has never been kinder and gentler since my joining in 2010. (Can't speak for the period I was out in the cold)

....and who starts them?

I am 100% with Maarts on this one.

I don't tolerate bullies.

I don't give a flying fucque what scroate et alia say about me - it is water off a duck's ass/arse.

But we have amongst our midst folk that are more vulnerable and can't always defend themselves.

Just hypothetical, but how would these 'antagonists' feel if somebody did something to themselves in a harmful way?

Scroate and Bully-Boy don't give a fucque about hurting people - they are proud of what they do.

Sadly, their pathetic henchmen, who appear to revel in it, aren't much better.

Sad fucques - all of them

I don't see anyone being unkind to you, not since your return at least.

I'm not here to defend OR condemn (sorry if that's disappointing to anyone), merely to say that there's nothing new under the sun.

Well, that and I find it rather humorous that "start your own board if you don't like this one" is sound advice, but it doesn't seem to have changed anything either.

I guess I WILL actually - well, defend is the wrong word, but - if it's NOT water off a duck's back to anyone, I'd be VERY surprised if Rayge is anyone's biggest problem.

Also that it's true (at least as far as I know; I'm not an admin there) that Adam has not been banned from anywhere.

For what it's worth he said on here, when asked if he was banned? Yes.

Whether he was being truthful, I have no idea

It’s a good question and we have discussed it several times by PM.

Jethro did ban him before and all his attempts to re register.
We assume he’s here under this login because Coan gave him the username and password. ( I think that’s right)
My answer is that we don’t really have a tradition of banning people on BCB because we don’t like what they say or do.
Banning poser A because poster B demands it isn’t really the role of admin. Unlike some boards I would say we benefit from admin not ruling with an iron fist (or any kind of fist).
Ideally I’d pass it up to Jethro, as it’s his board, but…… if the general feeling is that he should be banned forever (under any alias) then let’s see how strong the feeling is.

 Was that on purpose?

What does banning achieve that the "ignore" function doesn't?

One is done noisily & one is done quietly.

I guess banning is a permanent 'ignore' function that affects everybody, whether it's enacted on someone they want to ignore or not.

The way I got it figured, it's:

Coan's board=Coan makes the rules
Jethro's board=Jethro makes the rules.

Seems pretty clear-cut to me, though I also reserve the right to roll my eyes whenever I please. Which I've been doing a lot of lately.
