I’m quite sure I’m way too scared too.

Nothing more freaky than a nap. Yer out, dreaming, relaxed, drooling maybe. Yeah, take a fucking nap.

One of the things that kept me on the path of detox was knowing that anytime I increased my dose instead of holding steady or decreasng it was "feeding the dragon." I think most people would be surprised at how truly powerful narcotics are because unless you are taking them it is merely words on paper.

Actually I like the idea of micro-dosing LSD. Yer not balls out tripping but yer a little high, aware, kinda crispy, colors are more vivid, music is more musical and dumb shit is funnier. It's a good time to get out a coloring book and fill in those spaces.

Or read Junky by William Burroughs. It was written in the 1950s but some things never change. I read it several times in my 20s and went back and read it again during my detoxing.

After reading Michael Pollen's book I found myself intrigued by the idea.

You maybe should have tried LSD to help you off the hard stuff.

Nope and I don't regret my method. At some point you have to go through the awful feeling of doing without and short of being in a coma there is no escaping that fact. The fact that I was taking it under medical supervision instead of being a "street" addict made it easier as I wasn't in control of how much I could take. I took it as it was prescribed to me but that still doesn't make kicking it easy. Your body has turned off its endorphin machine and you are going to pay for it.

What would I learn from watching it?

I can't predict what anyone could or would learn about anything.

The film is about young heroin addicts in NYC. It is a tale of addiction to heroin and doesn't white wash things.

Ah! I’ve never seen it.
As you wrote ‘watch this’ I thought there would be some reason you were suggesting that I did.

The other thing about opioids - a fact be Lou neglected to expound on in Heroin and Waiting...- is the constipation.

I took a couple of codine tablets for a headache recently and I didn’t shit for days.you don’t get that with Anadin!
I've been talking about writing a book - 25 years of TEFL - for a few years now. I've got it in me.

I used to think that it would be the most vivid of drugs, but now I'm quite happy to stick to the odd bit of psychedelics now and again.

de Quincy and Coleridge have a lot to answer for.

Actually you get really bizarre and vivd dreams when your blood glucose is very low (a type 1 diabetes thing) - not something I'd actively pursue though.
