Fish fingers

Postby GoogaMooga » 14 Apr 2019, 20:56

I don't like cooking, but I can manage a frying pan, only I am having problems with the fish fingers. I like them, they are ridiculously cheap, and the fish doesn't get stuck between the teeth. My problem is they do seem to soak up a lot of olive oil. I tend to cover the surface with just a thin splash of oil, just enough that they don't get stuck, but it seems no matter how thin I make it, they soak it up like crazy. What am I doing wrong.

Try cooking at a higher temp. Are these pieces of breaded fish? They would soak up more oil at a lower temp.

Yes, they are, thanks, I'll do that next time.

Why not just grill them?

Don't fry them.
There should be instructions on the pack for doing them in the oven, with no oil needed, on a baking tray.

This presupposes Danish ones are the same as ours.

Yes - and yes, I've just checked. I must have chosen the frying option originally because it was faster and I wanted to get it over with.

Baking them will get decent results without as much mess. You'll probably want to do that.

Try steaming them.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Drop a dollop of rice on top and eat them raw as fish finger sushi

You could always poach them. Just put them in a kettle for a few minutes.

Okay, I threw them in the oven with some thick cut chips, 25 min. at 200 c, everything turned out perfect. Thank you all for your input.

:D You know, many years ago, I saw a Mickey Mouse Cookbook in a bookstore. I deliberated for maybe a minute or two, then said to myself, "Nah. Fuck it. "

Try gaffer taping the fish fingers to your actual fingers and then posting to BCB.
