Ian Cognito dies on stage one last time

Postby Copehead » 12 Apr 2019, 15:55

One of the best stand ups I ever saw, up there with Sadowitz when it comes to frightening audiences.

Now he has died on stage for real, shamelessly ripping off Tommy Cooper in the process

Best joke: coming on stage hammering a nail into the wall and hanging his hat up turning to the audience and saying - " That tells you two things about me, One: I don't give a fuck and Two: I've got a hammer"

That got people's respectful attention and usually got him banned from wherever he was playing.

Sad - one of the greats.
I only ever saaw him on telly once, but that's probably a good thing because most of his bitter, twisted act was about how he would never sell out and do telly

He was a good guitarist too. Last time I saw him (years ago, I can;t remember where) he was dicking around with a Roland guitar synthesiser. As always with great live comedy though I couldn't tell you what he said or why he was so good. He was though.
I've been talking about writing a book - 25 years of TEFL - for a few years now. I've got it in me.

How did he 'shamelessly' rip off Cooper? He did not have a choice in the matter.

I believe the correct answer to the question "How did he 'shamelessly' rip off Cooper is...

Just like that.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.
