It’s true. I’ve liked her since I heard her on Fresh Air when she was (I think) a bankruptcy scholar.

Her early Daily Show appearances made me a fan.
Lots to chew on in your longer post, too.

Apologies for the incoherence of my stream of consciousness rambling. I haven’t had time to really write something.

I tried watching some of the debate last night but it did look like a dogfight. :? I like Warren a lot as well and agree with the Baron about Bernie. We will lose of Bernie gets the nod. I mailed my primary vote for Warren on Monday. I'll obviously vote for whoever gets the nomination but until then I have to vote for who matters to me. Pete's young and too inexperienced. He'll be back.

Tulsi Gabbard: Presidential candidates must also condemn election interference by US intelligence agencies

Reckless claims by anonymous intelligence officials that Russia is “helping” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) are deeply irresponsible.

I’m basically on the “anybody but Sanders” train. Not that I dislike Bernie, or his basic policy thrust, but I think the last thing we need now is an ideological movement.

In general, I’m finding the whole primary surreal. You get up every day and read the news, and what you see Is mounting evidence that our country is actively slipping into authoritarianism. You see an impeachment trial with no trial. You see a runaway President purging the government of “enemies” and installing loyalists (and now he’s pretty much got the intelligence agencies AND the courts). You read tweets where Trump “jokes” about staying in office, and stories about Trump-owned voting machines, and you wonder whether an election can even be called against the guy without being “fake news” or “rigged.”

In that context - it just feels flat-out weird to be conducting these debates as if we are interrogating the relative merits of the Diamond Health Plan vs. The Platinum Health Plan. These people are vying to lead the free world, and they act as if nobody knows there’s an elephant in the room.

Buttigieg and Warren have said the most about systemic reform, but not nearly enough. Meanwhile Sanders seems to believe that a war for the soul of the party is more important than the war we’re going to have to have for liberal democracy.

I don’t argue that Sanders can’t win. Anyone with a major party’s nomination CAN win. But he shuffles the deck so completely, nobody knows how an election with him will shake out. Pretty big risk to take, given the stakes. Meanwhile, I don’t think people understand how withering the campaign against him is set to be. Hard enough to win with any Democrat, but do we really have to put the phrase “Democratic Socialism” on the ballot?

Basically - I’m waiting to see if Biden or Warren or someone emerges from South Carolina and Super Tuesday as viable, then I’m going to vote for whomever looks likeliest to become an alternative to Sanders.

Dear God, is Biden fixing to announce Klobuchar as his running mate? Sure feels like it.
