I need a new laptop and that's about it. I've learnt from hard lessons that it's best to really wait for about 3 or 4 years when tech comes out.

I’m vaguely interested in whatever stereo components play hi resolution digital music or however it is that Hugh is listening to stuff nowadays. But that’s years away.

Otherwise, I’m not eyeballing new tech. Technology has gone so far past my expectations and needs, I’ve found it suits me just fine to be a late adapter.

I'm sorry Jimbo that looks horrific. Imagine someone on the bus with one of those? Headphones are still the ultimate invention.

The bus is probably not the place for them as you'd upset people around you but I see me using them as I ride my bicycle. All the reviews I've seen say they sound good like a bubble of sound around your head. I'd also use them chilling here by my computer listening to tunes at a good volume and not disturbing my wife - - too much.

I've got Media Monkey on my computer for all my music files but like to transfer that to an external system as my computer is not always reliable.

Build yourself an audio streamer using a raspberry pi computer and an Allo Boss DAC (Google them). It is dead easy to do (no soldering or techy knowledge required) and will cost you less than £100.

Transfer all your audio files to an external hard drive and plug that into the streamer. Plug the streamer into your hifi. Control the playback from a tablet or smartphone. Sorted.

Unwilling to spend $200+ for the well reviewed Bose version I took a punt for $50 on Amazon and got these. Listening now, the sound is kind of tinny but the stereo separation is interestingly separate. Different from closed earphones. They're light enough and the volume is loud. No way can you not disturb anyone expecting a quiet space. They come with retractable earphones for private listening. But I bought them for bike riding where earphones are prohibited by law and tomorrow morning I will set off by bike to work with my new wearable speakers. :D

Our three-year-old is getting a talking world map AND a solar system projector thingy for her room.

Will I ever learn? Now the Bose will cost me $50 more having bought a cheap-o version which sound like crap and sap all the joy out of my music. The little attached ear buds sound all right I guess but I bought it for the wearable speaker system which actually hurts my ears. Too bad the Bose don't come with the ear buds because having the speakers and the buds could come in handy.

I was just think how great this would be for old folk. Rather than have the TV on maximum all the time, they could wear this and only deafen themselves. You could hear my mothers tv 500 yards down the road...
