Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Re: What's good in this world?
I'll give you twelve...
a long walk through a pleasant but unfamiliar area - and then home to a bath or some tea and cake OR BOTH
blasting a very favourite song loudly through headphones (especially when you haven't heard it for a while)
a train journey abroad
coming out of a film (that you weren't sure about) thinking 'fuck that was EXCELLENT'
a big bellylaugh - and then it comes back to you later and you laugh heartily AGAIN
watching wee kids playing - hiding from each other and giggling, calling their parents daft names like "Mister and Missus Poo-Poo", that kind of thing
waking up naturally - no alarms nor nothing, and probably being pleasantly surprised by how late it is - so you're 'slept out', as the Germans say
a little bit of revenge or similar - witnessing some wanker you work with have a load of plates fall on his head, for example
meeting someone really cool for the first time
the feeling of mind-expansion when you finally fully grasp a tricky concept OR work out a difficult piano piece or similar
the feeling of satisfaction when you come back from a big shop and stuff your fridge full and know you've got a big choice of very nice things for a few days
water fights - until everybody is drenched and they don't care (and are probably out of control laughing)

That moment when an album clicks
The first mouthful of an ice cold coke on a hot day
When you actually have a decent and meaningful conversation with a total stranger
The purr of a cat
The moment you arrive home after a holiday and put the kettle on
When an attractive lass eyes you up
lawrence of Arabia on the big screen
Cup of tea and a biscuit
A dip in a warm ocean
Seeing a dog with his head stuck out a window
Listening to music on ecstasy
Really great nan bread
Watching some politican you hate lose their seat

A hot drink on a cold day
the way toddlers run
Instant access to images (or GIFS!!!) of baby hedgehogs taking a bath
Not dying of preventable diseases
Discovering a book like the Third Policeman exists, even when you sort of knew you'd like it but you had no idea how good it would be

To be honest, I don't really care for the taste, probably shouldn't be there.
Modern chrome kettles are a big improvement.
