Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.
If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything.
When I was a kid, I inhaled. Frequently. That was the point.

Supremely well deserved news -

https://www.theguardian.com/science/2019/jul/15/alan-turing-father-of-modern-computing-50-pound-note

Alan Turing, the scientist known for helping crack the Enigma code during the second world war and pioneering the modern computer, has been chosen to appear on the new £50 note.

The mathematician was selected from a list of almost 1,000 scientists in a decision that recognised both his role in fending off the threat of German U-boats in the Battle of the Atlantic and the impact of his post war persecution for homosexuality.

Good news.

I still think it's an odd turn of phrase that he was "pardoned" by the Queen.

Yes, me too - I secretly wondered doubtfully whether they would ever put him on the same bank note as her Maj what with her being the anointed head of the Church of England and the wordings and commands in Leviticus etc etc.

I imagine she issued the posthumous pardon (post 1967) because Government told her to - that's normally how it goes I think.
