Gumballs in ice cream is perhaps not a good idea

Postby GoogaMooga » 28 Oct 2018, 22:01

This afternoon I was given a tub of Premier ice cream, 42% cream. I always check the cream content before buying. No whey powder or skimmed milk for me. It was half strawberry, half vanilla, and then it had a few gumballs thrown in. That's Premier trying to copy Ben & Jerry but not really having a clue. First of all, you can't chew frozen gumballs. Moreover, gum has no business in ice cream, can't swallow it either. So I found myself taking out the gumballs one by one and thinking, what would Ben and Jerry say to that.

I remember when Baskin Robbins/31 Flavors came out with Pink Bubblegum ice cream. Bubblegum flavored ice cream with gumballs inside.

It was a revelation.

Whatdid you do with the gumballs? Were they soft enough to chew?

Yes, they were soft enough to chew. But I was 10 and didn't really care. It was gum in ice cream. That was good enough for me.

They have a stick ice variant here, where the gumball is the nose on a polar bear. Kids love it.

They have those here too. Gum in ice cream transcends boundaries.

You guys should stick a gumball on your nose and eat your own faces.
If you've got nothing to do, don't do it here.
