Lonely Planet names Copenhagen top city for 2019

I don't really understand this choice, but then one does not always notice the attraction of one's own vicinity.

It's a pleasant city but come on, compared to London, Paris, New York, Tokyo etc? Sure, if I personally am going to book a weekend away I'm quite likely to go somewhere less familiar, as I've done all the big western capitals (apart from Dublin actually), but if I were giving someone who'd never been to Europe before tips about the best places to visit it wouldn't be one of my top choices.

The "top ten" list has some decent alternative destinations but one suspects that some marketing men have had some conversations with some journalists there. Who goes to Miami for its "arts scene"? Will Smith?

Awful thing when that happens. I had a similar experience at a Tom Jones concert.

I think Lonely Planet gives marks for things other than sights. London and Paris have both seen better days and are getting fewer tourists, but I don't want to get into that matter...

Since you are based in Stockholm, you are probably quite familiar with Copenhagen also, it would not appear so exotic or interesting to you.

It's cheaper for me to visit Solvang.

Ha ha, I've heard about that place. Do people live there, like in a normal town? Or is it more like an open air museum? I see they've even got a copy of the Round Tower!

Hoping to combine Stockholm and Copenhagen in one holiday next year; didn't make it to Stockholm this year.

In fact, I already know why Copenhagen is so lauded; it's because this on show there:

" How Well We Go Together", painted 1635.
