One of those writers I found myself at odds with at times but in the day when messageboards offered great insightful commentary, one of the staplemarks when it came to topical debate.
RIP.

He dies and he’s an “intellectual”.

Okay, I won't celebrate his death, but I won't celebrate his life either. Or especially his written opinion pieces, which I guess is what (all?) he's known for - or did he go birdwatching on the weekends or have a family or something I should know about? Grr.
Well, at least you spelled his name right, which is more than I would have bothered to do.
Sorry! It's the end of an era or something, I guess!

He was a contrarian by nature but I found a lot of his pieces interesting and decently argumented if morally flawed. His pieces on global warming certainly were objectionable but I could not argue that he was a good writer.
Fwiw, he did have a wife and son and cancer claimed him.

I couldn't look at him for very long and was distracted by his looks.
