"The Right Stuff" is one of my very favourite books. :(

Ah, that's too bad. He spoke at my commencement for undergrad.

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

Interesting writer. As a journalism student in the early '80s, he was a must read as one of the founders of the "New Journalism" school, along with Hunter S. Thompson, Talese, Mailer, Breslin, Schaap, Plimpton and Didion. It was a short-lived era but it influenced a whole generation of non-fiction writers.

No fucking way!

Shit.

One time I had to go take pictures of something for work, so I was on the Upper East Side, with a camera, and BOOM there's Tom Wolfe (you couldn't possibly mistake him for anyone or fail to recognize him) so... I took his picture while he was waiting to cross the street.

Somewhere I have a photograph of Tom Wolfe scowling at me.

Oh this makes me sad. What a writer!

Great writer. Didn't know he was that old - not sure why. "Bonfire of the Vanities" was a great book that did not make for a great movie.

Good innings, as they say.

Great writer. I adored his work up to Bonfire, not so keen on the novels after that. It's the non fiction titles that really stirred me, fantastic writing. RIP Mr Wolfe.
