Last Saturday night, we all got together for the first time in ages. Was a good catch up with plenty of drinking and laughter. The biggest reveal of the night was that my old school principal will be doing the mass for one of the boy's wedding. My friend is marrying my former principal's niece. He was a proper cunt and universally disliked by students and teachers of the time. I'm glad i won't have to go up and get communion off him, the cunt.

Just last week. Had a wonderful time in a tiny, run down neighborhood hole in the wall with four old friends eating fried chicken, fried squid, sushi, potato salad and drinking beer, sake, high balls and shochu. To be able to do that is one of the great still legal pleasures.

That's an easy one for me now. It was the last night and really rhe whole weekend of the last Chicago JUOA a few years ago. I'm not so sure I got drunk that night but definitely the Saturday night of that weekend. It's what you do at JU or at least that was what I was told. As a rule I don't go out to get drunk and I really don't enjoy drinking too much or the hangovers so it's something I truly avoid these days. There aren't a lot of upsides from my vantage point. I did ot enough when I was younger. I don't feel a need to do it anymore. The memories of great nights are a better reward these days instead of chasing that dragon.

I just can't do it any more. I get two-day headaches if I exceed half a bottle of wine or combine grape and grain.

I was fairly well oiled at a party a few months ago but on not that much. The last real time was the Wessex beer festival of 2016. I tried to go for a restoring walk down a country lane the next morning, but various distressing incidents then took place in a hedgerow and a field.

I rarely go out and get drunk, but I stay in and get tipsy virtually every night.

I was under the impression it was compulsory.

You'd think, coming from Liverpool, but almost all the surnames of my ancestors going back to the the end of the 19th century are Welsh or English as far as I know.
