The best
Edinburgh - well it's home, innit?
London - great in small doses
Very good
Birmingham - It's not a pretty city but there's lots going on plus great food
Glasgow - Ditto. Dislike the professional Wegie shite of course.
Only briefly visited but looked good
Newcastle
Liverpool
York
Briefly visited but not impressed
Leeds
Manchester
Ones I wouldn't mind visiting
Brighton
Bristol
Oxford
There's lots of cities in the UK I just have no desire to visit at all

A bad experience during a visit to original site of The Batcave I reckon.

It's not necessarily bottom of the shithole section, I mean, Swansea is stiff competition. But it's a fucking horrible grey monstrosity of a place. And there's loads of people there.

Where did you get the list from John? several of my favourite cathedral cities not on it.

Top of my head. There's too many there already, actually.

Yeah, Lincoln and Durham not on there, two of my favourite cities in England. I lived in Lincoln for a few years, lovely place.

Re: UK cities ranking
I think I prefer small cities and or decent sized towns these days. My ideal place to live would be somewhere like Canterbury - a bit arty, culturally alive, lots of aesthetically pleasing Georgian architecture, a river etc. And it's in a part of the country I have a great deal of affection for. I really loved Bath too - like an Italian city.
I've gone right off London, although I'll always be fascinated by its history, but it's not a place to live anymore, unless you have a lot of money.

A lot of you would prefer to live somewhere in Europe, I think.

I've picked up very slight, subtle hints of that from the Masked Man.

Re: UK cities ranking
The thing is, the grass inevitably isn't greener.
I liked Berlin 20 years ago and I still love the city, but living there permanently now? No. Too cold. Too hip actually.
I like to think I'd love somewhere in France or Spain, but it's not always rosy. Italy, the same. There are usually unseen aspects of living that you miss that float to the surface once you've gone beyond the novelty of the new.
I'd love to live somewhere like Mainz or Heidelberg in Germany - well designed cities with impressive infrastructure, cleanliness, historical aspedcts like churches, rivers, affordable public transport, not too many cars etc.
