JCC

I saw him last night and although I didn't have especially high expectations, I was bowled over. He's a real force of nature - extremely charismatic, funny, and sharp. 69, too!

A rendition of this was one of several highlights:

There were two support acts who both delivered poetry in a roughly similar style to the great man - but they lacked his charm and his wit and they were aiming to make pretty serious political points above all else. Tiresome, really.

JCC had fun and it was infectious. I'd see him again like a shot.

Little Jim was no-one's fool - he owned the town's only jam butty mine.

Well he kind of sang a bit of 'So Many Questions' by Heinz...

I love him, but he's no Hannah Hauxwell.
You come at the Queen, you best not miss.

I thought that this thread was going to be about the Jewish Community Center.

That’s Dr. John Cooper Clarke to you.

I saw him several times in the Eighties, once with Lynton Kwesi Johnson. Always really funny and sharp.
