Paradise papers...sex scandals, trump, craven tories

Who's up for revolution then? I'm getting pissed off with these shameless gits who govern us just assuming they can do what they want.

It is very tempting isn't it? There seems to be no other way out. I wonder if it's brewing?

And that the new incumbents in power would be any better?

The expenses scandal was far worse because it was a systemic abuse of power - over two thirds of MPs were guilty. This appears so far to be individuals and a small minority at that. As Matthew D'Ancona wrote today though, this sort of thing is always bad news for the Tories, although whether it has the strength to bring down the govt is hard to say.

One wonders what these people think is the point of sticking this money into bank accounts on Caribbean islands.

Money exists to be circulated and spent, it is for transactions, it is created by banks as loans/debt and then flows around the economy keeping it going.

By sucking wealth out of the economy and leaving it being unproductive these people are rendering it worthless and hastening the day when society will collapse around them, what do they think they are going to do with a few electronic billion in a Cayman Islands account then?

It is moronic, at least the great wealthy of the Victorian period build libraries and museums, these people sit on their money like so many Smaugs and with about as much thought.

It is hoarding, it is economically illiterate and it is only hastening the end of the system they currently sit on top of.

The expenses scandal is all part of it, as is the state of the US congress (where something like only 20 members of both houses combined) have net assets of less than $5m or something along those lines). Why are they getting away with it?
My reference to craven tories was to cameron and then may "leading" us into a god-awful mess while still claiming to be the natural party of government.

As for new incumbents being any better - who knows? If they are not we can have another revolution.

Very true in many ways.

However i believe that the ones who think beyond "it is my money and no one is getting any of it out of my hands, taxman and all", are the sort of people who hope that society will recalibrate back to a bygone era, where what they believe is the natural order of things, will be restored. They (and i am talking about your Bojo's and most certainly Rees Mogg's of the world) seem to genuinely think of themselves as a superior class to your average layman, or even middle class aspirational person. The changes in our society, particularly since the end of the 19th century and the industrial revolution which begat women getting the vote, equal rights for all, the post war welfare state and NHS, as well as the chance for the truly poor and working class to look in hope for a better existence, are an anathema to these people. The fact that drastic inequality still prevails is down to these said people trying with all their might to restore their view of the natural order of things. They long for a return to a privileged upper class strata of nobility and wealth and are determined to acquire and hold onto as much wealth as possible to that end. They hold a view that those strides in equality in the last century were/are an aberration, and that when this new society, they find so distasteful collapses, it won't be an uprising of the people in some sort of populist overthrow of the rich, but in actuality the dirty underclass being cleaved apart by division and their own (supposed) ignorance (see aspects of the Brexit vote and Farage as reference points here) . Once the dust settles and they have strangled the trickle down wealth out of the country and set the middle and working class against each other and any other racial or social groups that exist; they will have all the wealth and power as always, can be in full control as economic libertarians and the underclass below them will once again return to indentured servile wards for them to exploit and tread on with impunity like it is 1789 again. That is why they want to squirrel all their cash away for a future based on a long lost past. Bunch of bastards, the lot of them.
