Art thread is gone?

Postby algroth » 26 Sep 2017, 01:43

This is weird... I was trying to find the art thread I started a couple of months ago here, of which I'd saved the link; yet when accessing the link it says the topic "does not exist", and I can't seem to find it amidst my posts either. What happened? :(

It's like a meta-commentary on the ephemeral nature of art, man.

I think the problem is the backlog of threads will polls in them with no expiry date.

Although there's 18 pages of threads, there are only 6 pages of threads without polls. So we only go back to this May with fresh topics. Everything will drop off from May and shortly, June.
The more poll threads with no expiry date that are created, the bigger the backlog, the shorter the lifespan of other threads.

We're going to have to do something relatively soon-ish.

Delete some polls with no expiry date?

Well, yes though it's a tedious, boring manual task but unless Jethro has a quicker option it will have to be done.

Why is it that Nextdoorland is the only forum where things drop off? Just wondering.
And can I suggest we start with threads that have had no replies in the last five years or more, and/or newer ones that have fewer than, say, five votes. Plus all of JoCo's threads about insufficient action.
And can we have some stickies if we start new threads about stuff people like to return to occasionally: say, pics of members, pics of pets, gardens, etc. as well as art, as they keep falling off?
