One thread for word associating, one thread for glittery gifs, and me, making stupid comments on both.

It could work.

Yes, but, and I'm genuinely not trying to be deliberately obtuse here, most of the ones I see don't look that different to this one. Perhaps you could provide links to some others so I can see what you mean?
It is worth pointing out that we are hosted by phpbb2, so we are quite limited by the templates they give us. In order for us to improve or radically change the look of the site, we would probably have to move to a different host. Given the current one works well and is very affordable, I'm not sure it's worth it. It is also worth restating that the cost of hosting the site is paid for by Jethro/JQW (with contributions from BCB members). We are a private site, rather than a commercial site, and so what we can do is limited.

driftin wrote:As for the categories, I'm particularly annoyed by the two cups boards the most. It's just a myriad of threads that all have pretty much the same title minus a single number, and it's spread across two boards. It's the main reason I can't be arsed with voting. Clickbait sites get flack for it but it's okay on a forum?

I don't understand what clickbait has to do with it. They are competitions where you vote, in ties, for particular songs or lists of songs against another. Some are specialised in particular genres, while in the annual BCB cup you can pick any song you like. The reason there are so many ties is that the competiton has been going on annually for about ten years. So the sections act both as an archive and as a space for current competitions.
driftin wrote:In terms of organisation and naming "Nextdoorland - in reality, all of this has been a total load of old bollocks", "Yakety Yak - Do talk back", "Screenadelica - ...and why not?" What does any of this even mean? Look at it from a newcomer's perspective.

You have a point. I wouldn't want to lose BCB's humour, which is a distinctive part of BCB, but I can see it might be a bit impenetrable to a newbie. I'll have a word with the other admins about adding clearer capsule descriptions of each section.
Cheers! I'd be interested in what others think.
