No one is defending that aspect of the case. As usual the police are using this affair to gain political advantage. They did it with Mitchell, and here they are doing it again. no one has suggested any of the material found was illegal or even extreme, despite various left wing web sites claiming both. the reality is that it looks like anyone and everyone has access to everyones computer's in the HoC. Researchers, advisers , even interns. I can see a case for tightening that up, but what the police are doing is just graft.

He was still sitting in his office wanking between sending off emails and harassing subordinate female co-workers.

that may be normal in the construction industry but in the oil industry that hasn't been normal for over 10 years.

but all this happened over 10 years ago, at which time, according to you, it was perfectly normal.

In mine it's clearly stated as gross misconduct which - 90% of the time- leads to dismissal.

Viewing porn on a work computer is exactly the same and in 100% of cases would lead to dismissal (there was a rather large scale case in Birmingham recently where some senior managers were dismissed for exactly this reason).

Of course, if Yomp wants the HoC to be a virtual wild west, that's his call.

With me both constitute "serious disciplinary offences" which could lead to gross misconduct and dismissal.

I work for a non departmental public body.

My contract states that failure to gawp at a minimum of 32 tits or 16 arses a day would lead to misconduct charges.

I work for Razzle.

I’ve emailed the Royal Mail to see if it can add BCB to the list of websites it’s employees are forbidden from viewing.

I stand corrected
Perfectly acceptable behaviour at that time, this is obviously a witch hunt
Like Savile fucking disabled children it was different times and we can't judge them by modern standards

And if you achieve your aim of BCB just being you and your (ever diminishing) coterie of clueless cunts, I should welcome it.

So how do we think we now look in the eyes of our EU colleagues?

What a farce. You couldn't make this up.

May is spending so much time in Brussels lately she should get a house there. A pied-à-terre in the diplomatic quarter perhaps. Maybe she already has!

From the BBC :

"The three-page document says the UK will remain under the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice and be required to permit freedom of movement during any transition period.

And agreements on the Irish border, the so-called divorce bill and the rights of EU and UK citizens, agreed by Mrs May last Friday, must be "respected in full and translated faithfully into legal terms as quickly as possible".

The document says: "As the UK will continue to participate in the customs union and the single market during the transition, it will have to continue to comply with EU trade policy."

So no different from now then.
