 Heard a caller on radio 2 say britain should just leave the EU without paying. Reference the money they spent rebuilding countries after WW2.

I'm no expert, but that was all US money and German reparations wasn't it?

Britain was too busy paying the US back for all the stuff they sent us up until they entered WW2... But like I say, I could be wrong., :?

I don't think the caller thought it through.

Quite possibly, they obviously hate his guts.
But if he is a barefaced liar it is certainly in the public interest to know about that.

The Marshall Plan. I'm sure Toby knows it like the back of his hand but Britain didn't pay anything towards the rebuilding of Europe but was the largest recipient of aid from the US.
I don't think Britain got any reparation payments from Germany because we weren't invaded but Germany did pay back WW1 reparations until 2010

No, because we were massively indebted to Lend-Lease as well.

The Marshall Plan was about $140 billion in today's money. Britain got about $30 billion of that.

I think the Greeks used that suggestion as well. They loaned Germany a shitload of money.

To clarify -

"The Channel Islands were the only part of the British Isles to be occupied by the Wehrmacht (German Armed Forces) during the war."

That was way too close for comfort now I think on...

He obviously did look at porn on his government lap top but what will sink him, eventually and hopefully half the cabinet with him followed by the government, is his lying about doing something legal if immoral and against most peoples employment contracts.

That and harassing women to sleep with him which seems to have been forgotten in the porngate furore

Are you for real?

Are you absolutely fucking off your trolley???

Someone is paying him off to do a hatchet job . And he needs the money to subsidise his already over generous pension.

Ahem!

"The British Isles" includes The Channel Islands.

Britain (as I wrote) or Great Britain just includes the mainland

Well from Nadine Dorries's tweet in defence of Green at least we know that the Houses of Parliament protocols around data protection are not being followed. At all. A fucking joke.

In my work's data protection policy giving another user my login or password is misconduct. Possibly gross misconduct.

No one is defending that aspect of the case. As usual the police are using this affair to gain political advantage. They did it with Mitchell, and here they are doing it again. no one has suggested any of the material found was illegal or even extreme, despite various left wing web sites claiming both. the reality is that it looks like anyone and everyone has access to everyones computer's in the HoC. Researchers, advisers , even interns. I can see a case for tightening that up, but what the police are doing is just graft.

He was still sitting in his office wanking between sending off emails and harassing subordinate female co-workers.

that may be normal in the construction industry but in the oil industry that hasn't been normal for over 10 years.
