Obviously. But you cannot make blanket statements about what makes rich income. I am sure if I lived in Whitehaven or barrow, 70K would be a fortune. But we cannot all live in Whitehaven...

Surely that would depend on the area, and a presumption that you live on your own? £70k would be a very comfortable salary, even in London.

If you have a mortgage of 2K a month ( average in London), a car loan, ( normal), and two kids ( average), you would be a JAM in London.

Even the average salary in London is only £48K. So you're arguing that most people working in London are in poverty?

I wouldn't consider anybody on 70g "rich" but I would certainly consider them pretty well off up here

Yep. And I certainly would expect them to be able to shoulder a bigger burden of the tax bill than someone on the national average wage.

This idea that Osborne would countenance contact with the common man, dead or otherwise, is ludicrous.

Can you imagine Osborne's sweaty, shiny sex-face, btw? Just thought I'd throw that in.

The Conservatives promised stability at the last election and said Labour would bring chaos...

Funny how things pan out.

I mind that tweet from Cameron about Labour being a threat to our national and economic security
