May still desperately clinging on to power

Cue the arrival of Copperhead with his array of spurious graphs pointing out how
Corbyn will romp home with a majority of 200+

“After the country voted to leave the EU, Britain needed certainty, stability and strong leadership. Since I became prime minister the government has delivered precisely that.”

All I've seen from her 'strong leadership' is the oft-repeated mantra straight outta Trump's playbook: "we will get the best deal".

I'm surprised in all honesty, but I guess she's hoping she can exterminate UKIP and build up a substantial majority. But she could have just left Corbyn alone and let the Labour party die by death by a thousand cuts, rather than give them the chance to rebuild with a new leader, if as expected, they are trounced. I see one of their MPs has already announced he's not standing again after the election.

Could this be the spur that brings back David Milliband?

I expect May hopes it will be the best of both worlds; Win and watch Labour slowly die when Corbyn refuses to resign.

Neck on the line prediction. Chris Leslie will do things. I am not a fan but I have been sensing he will become more active again.

Don't take it too hard. I am sure Will will be along shortly to give you hope, and a technically accurate election result in your favour.

The timing seems strange , it maybe says that they expect a poor brexit and they wish to hold on to power a little longer. UKIP is a busted flush and Labour , well , who knows. How do the SNP feel about this I wonder ? May moaning about the other parties and brexit is not really an issue is it ? She is simply not going to lose any major vote in the commons. With so many anti brexit voters I ask , how will they vote.

Very fucking bizarre... I wouldn't be at all surprised if there is something afoot that we're not aware of.

Maybe they know we're going to be totally fucked over with Brexit, and want to secure five years now rather than go to the country soon after a disaster like that. They're certainly cynical enough to do exactly that.

Will the Lib Dems make big inroads into Labour areas by being the only remain party? I think there is an opportunity for a massive comeback for them.

Labour already being torn apart by sky news , new leader , losses in marginal seats . I don't know if the Libdemos have it in them. Labour and it's current leader will be the parallel headlines all the way to the election. A hard time for labour and the pro EU vote is game changer.

Corbyn voting for early election?
He missed a big trick there ("...I'll think about letting you have another election once we see just how well you handle your own Brexit mess in 2 years time").

It would've left him in a (relative) position of strength and given him time to get something half-decent organised (internally, and maybe pacts with LibDems, SNP).

Indeed, one would say he had a moral obligation to the country NOT to be subservient to this shower, and jump through their constitutional hoops whenever the fancy takes them.

Or maybe has he no appetite at all for this type of thing anymore, and wants the agony to end quickly.

whatever. Hopeless, yet again

... or maybe he is happy to remain in opposition. He knows that unless he resigns his position as leader is secure. His political career has been spent in opposition one way or another. Perhaps it is his comfort zone?
