Let's not forget the one that just ate an Indonesian farmer in one go!

If you haven't read "The Nasty Book" do it now.

Funny you should mention that - I put it in my Amazon basket a couple of days ago.

Chapman has really become much funnier to me over the years. I used to think of him as sort of the Mike Pinder of comedy, just sort of always doing the boring serious roles, but now I see the borderline insanity in him. He really makes me laugh now.

Hard to put these guys in any sort of order. Depends on the sketch.

For years I would have put Palin on top. But Cleese (and I'm counting his other stuff too) just seems like someone who laughs at the world more, and I like that. Although they were inevitably disappointing, I really liked what he did in the reunion gigs, too.

I don't really like Cleese as a person. Bitter and tetchy to a fault. I know it's a cliche but Palin comes across as a lovely bloke. He doesn't miss Cleese in his dairies though.

Chapman at the bottom? Madness.

Idle's an interesting case, 'cause he's probably the least funny in Python. Yet it seems like a lot of their brand of comedy is his vision. And without him, no Rutles, which would be a tragedy.

I like Quaco's take on Chapman too. I think I agree.

I'd probably put it something like this:

Cleese
Palin
Idle
Chapman
Gilliam
Jones

They all have their strengths, though. Gilliam is brilliant, of course, but he's rarely the reason I laugh out loud. And I'm probably being unfair to Jones, but he's the one I have the least handle on exactly what he brings to the table.
