I still think he works for the Russians.

You could be right. Never thought of myself as a fascist - it's such an ugly word - but I do like a good leader, a competent boss, an efficient and fair, by the book administrator, a capable foreman, perhaps even a king or a queen. I don't of course want a Hitler, Mussoilini or Franco, they've given one person rule a bad name. Besides, hadn't they sneaked into power using/abusing democracy? And yeah, now that you mention it, Bernie might be a fine despot. Free health care! Done. Free college! Done! Just looked up Hammurabi on Wikipedia. He supposedly created the presumption of innocence code. Not bad. And hadn't our UK friends had a few good kings? America does have it's constitution, ideally a wonderful document granting governance to the people, but the way assholes have gamed it it just isn't working for the majority - or the minority, except for the very tiny minority of uber rich bastards. Off with their heads!

There are only two possibilities here - either Jimbo is a full-on troll, or he has no compassion whatsoever for those that don't fall in lockstep with his twisted worldview.

I prefer to assume the former.

We try to talk about domestic politics but the topic always seems to return to what Jimbo thinks about domestic politics. :|

That was so 2018.

I’ve pulled the trigger on ignoring him. I’m just making things worse for everyone here by encouraging him.

Perhaps in the past his shtick was interesting or funny or something. But the closer we come to having real fascism here, the less amusing I’m finding him. So here’s to a Jimbo-free 2019!

I don't see us getting close to fascism though. I think 2019 is going to be very bad for the Donald. He won't be impeached because dickless Republicans won't go for that unless some incontrovertible truth arrises from Mueller that there was Russian Collusion. No, I think by the end of this year everyone short of a very minor and fanatical GOP base will realize he's a clown and he won't be reelected next year. He's going to be investigated on so many fronts when the Dems are in office (and this will come soon) that he probably won't even smile in public anymore. I can't wait to see his tax returns for one thing.

Lol. So I guess that means you're in the very minor and fanatical GOP base who will never realize he's a clown then.

Former NYT editor Jill Abramson takes jab at paper: News articles 'unmistakably anti-Trump'

Former New York Times Executive Editor Jill Abramson teed off on her former employer's coverage of President Trump, arguing that news articles have become "unmistakably anti-Trump" with some headlines and stories containing "raw opinion."

Does this set off any bells?

If you are going to the NYT for news you are getting a lie. Not saying you need to go to The Blaze for your news but let this former NYT editor's experience be a warning. You need to shop around for information.

Trump is only part of what I see as a rising fascism. The larger issue is that the entire Judiciary branch of our government has been subsumed by one chamber of the Legislative branch.

Actually, I never read the NY Times. I don't know what you see in Japan, but here every news outlet is anti-Trump, save Fox, of course. There's no other way to view the man.

But don't take my word for it. Wait and see if everything in my above post doesn't come to fruition in 2019. He will be investigated big time by the Dems, he probably won't be impeached, but will lose in 2020.

I wish I agreed. I've learned to never underestimate a minor & fanatical GOP base. Look at "Americans for Prosperity" and their stupid goddam "balanced budget amendment" it's as bald faced a power grab as that damned tax bill was - probably even worse. You'd think this would be as plain as the nose on your face to that aforementioned base but it's not.

I think all this "get the government out of government" insanity is just getting started. All the Mr. Moneybags guys have that minor & fanatical GOP base sewed up in their pockets. they have them convinced that they are on their side and the government isn't and that bending the government to their will is going to be the tide that lifts all boats.

the ace they have up their sleeve is how thoroughly and intensely that base dislikes everybody they see as being on the other side of this.
they are very focused. they don't hate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez & the dem socialists any more than they hate Nancy Pelosi or Joe Biden they just hate the fuck out of them all. theirs may be a small consensus but, used in this mannter it is a unified front at a time when the Dems are more scattered than ever in terms of what they even want to do. the Trump base thinks they are fighting "the good fight". some dems are fighting trump and some are fighting the evil empire and some are fighting climate change and most are fighting each other.

I have people who wont speak to me because I don't support President Trump. I don't see these people admitting he's a clown any time soon. I mean, wouldn't they have done that 90 feats of clownishness ago?

Then those are the exact people I'm talking about. They're never going to concede that their god has no clothes on so fuck 'em. But as for everyone else - even some Republicans are turning against him. Not all of them are in favor of the current shutdown - not by a longshot, and then there's Mattis and now Romney. If Mueller can come up with proof and it looks like Trump will be a one-termer with possible legal action in the future, I think you'll see a drift away from him from GOP politicians concerned about reelection.

I'm hoping eventually, he'll be a sinking ship.

I agree with most of this.

There's going to be so much investigation … Believe me, folks, there will be so much investigating you will beg the Dems, enough with the investigating. Could you please get something done.

As for him getting re-elected, leave it to the Davey-wing of the Democratic party to fuck it up and lose.

I think Romney is just Jeff Flake 2.0. He’ll point out that the Emp has no clothes but he’ll support “the wall”
I think our main hope is that TRUMP personally insults enough Senators & Congressmen that they exact some payback.
