The fact that the world is in the hands of a baby with a nuclear rattle is the problem here. Even if we all pretended that Putin was the kid in the Twilight Zone and told it that “it was a good thing that you interfered in our elections” - we’d still have the exact same level of danger.

The President of the United States, with the traditional call to vote the day before an election:
"Law Enforcement has been strongly notified to watch closely for any ILLEGAL VOTING which may take place in Tuesday’s Election (or Early Voting). Anyone caught will be subject to the Maximum Criminal Penalties allowed by law. Thank you!"

The idea being that with Sessions gone, Trump's going to have Mueller taken down in the lame duck session?

Yeah and all the material he has gathered lives with the Justice Department.
Without Sessions, Trump gets someone who isn’t conflicted out and can trump Rosenstein. I think.

Trump has already mentioned his chief of staff, Matthew Whitaker, will take over. Rosenstein is scheduled to meet with Trump today or tomorrow.

I tell you what, though, that was a pretty great ten hours of feeling somewhat hopeful after the elections.

Does anyone really believe anything will come from the Russian investigation?

If by “anything” you mean Donald Trump’s early removal from office, then no. That is now a virtual impossibility given the makeup of the Senate and, among other things, Lindsey Graham’s newfound fealty to Trump. By any other measure, much has already come.

There have been many indictments, yes - but to posit that Trump will be held acountable for anything is a pipedream.

Re: President Donald J. Trump
I don't know, this seems really bad.
This stooge Trump has installed appears to have an obligation to recuse himself from supervising the Mueller investigation on the basis of having run the campaign of an apparent friend of his who's now a grand jury witness in that investigation - or at least he has to consult with the Ethics peeps at the DOJ about whether he should recuse.
But Trump wouldn't have picked him if that were the plan, so we can assume it's not going to happen. Between now and January 3, these guys can pretty much do whatever they want.
So Mueller's now obliged to share information and strategy with a guy who's a direct conduit to the president.
I need to go lie down.

Re: President Donald J. Trump
Jim Acosta has had his credential revoked. the White House released what is clearly a doctored video which they say shows he attacked the woman who was trying to confiscate his microphone yesterday.
I mean, we all SAW what happened yesterday. Today they are telling us what we saw and people are believing them. TRUMP'S rampage yesterday seems like the official start of Phase Two. Sean Hannity told that crowd the other day that "all media is false". TRUMP, in all matters pending, seems to be counting on being able to say whatever he likes with the knowledge that he has a solid base of people who believe that Jim Acosta karate chopped a women even though they saw with their own eyes what really happened. They believe Mueller is heading the biggest witch hunt in the history of witch hunts.
these are dark fuckin' days.
