I think it's a sleight of hand type thing. con men do that. while people freak out about him saying "shithole" he slips something from the cuff of his shirt.

I agree that these things are stunts and I agree that people do more freaking out than thinking. but, as for me, I'm glad people are taking exception to the President calling other countries "shitholes".

Funny line I just saw on Twitter. . .

Genius. Until today, if you Googled “Trump” and “shithole” all you got were hotel reviews.

Despite the criticisms you've found, I found many Amazon reader comments quite positive. And as far as the Clinton's being dirty, I think they are. Dunno if Chelsea was conceived in rape but do some research on the Foundation and see how corrupt they are.

Oh, I'm not denying the Clintons aren't on the up-and-up. I believe that. I think "foundations" are rife with corruption. They also do a lot of good work.

When I was in the telecom Industry, President Clinton was paid $500,000 for a 20 minute speech at the industry's annual tradeshow in New Orleans. I'm sure his lodging and travel were paid for too. One of the perks of being an ex-Pres, I guess, but I haven't' trusted them since Whitewater. But then I make my Faustian bargains with candidates if I believe they'll do more good than bad.

No, I read Yelp reviews all the time. Actually Amazon ones too. As an indicator of truth, though? I repeat:

I take both with a grain of salt. I don't use Amazon book reviews as a verification of journalistic accuracy and I discount a lot of bad Yelp reviews as unfair expectations of restaurants, for example.

As for HRC favoritism, it seems her biggest and maybe only fan in the FBI was - luckily - the guy in charge of investigating her, Strzuk. I’ve heard conjecture. I don’t think any of us are ever going to definitively know the internal politics of the FBI. But ultimately I think you ought to admit that you are clutching at straws here. Whether Strzuk was playing fast and loose for Clinton is unknowable to us. A word change in a statement that should never have been made in the first place doesn’t really prove anything. From the reading I’ve done, it appears that mutilple people at the bureau had a hand in crafting that language. Further - it’s unlikely that Strzuk could have forced Comey to accept the softer language without his consent. The most likely scenario is that Strzuk corrected language that might have caused trouble for the FBI by being too strong an accusation for the evidence they had.

Whatever the truth - none of it seems consistent with an FBI that was in the tank for Clinton. Had they truly been trying to elect her, they could have probably achieved it be simply not making two statements against her that they didn’t have to make.

Exactly. It's like when a questionably appropriate ad gets published or goes on air. There were 12 ad agency people and corporate people who reviewed and approved it.

With something going public like this from the FBI, there were three or four levels of people at least who had a chance to revise, comment, and approve it. Something like this may be drafted by someone, but there is no way this doesn't get amended a gazillion times before being released. There's the writer, his or her bosses, communications people, and legal people who all take a crack at it.

Doesn’t Murdock own the Wall Street Journal? They just broke a story that one of TRUMP’s lawyers paid off a porn star not to talk about her relationship with TRUMP. Supposedly the payment took place just before the 2016 election.

Which shithole did Trump's family emigrate from? He claims Scotland doesn't he? But I imagine it is somewhere even less salubrious.

I just posted this on fb, but what gets me is that no matter the weekly scandal which seems to plague the Don, his constituency doesn't give a shit whatsoever. Everything is glossed over as if it doesn't matter in the slightest. But wait when the next Democratic president is in office and watch them howl with disdain at the slightest imperfection or perceived injustice. Hypocrisy at its utmost finest.

Hypocrisy isn’t really a thing anymore.

If the Trump Presidency has had one positive effect, it is in liberating all of us from the illusion that our political debates are about anything else other than tribalism.

Trump gets away with anything with his base because he’s convinced them that he stands for them and against everyone else. That’s the whole deal.

It used to be that our President had to at least give lip service to being a President for all Americans. Trump’s ended that. The last time he ever even mused on being a President for all Americans was the night of his election victory. Seemingly though he sees being “President for all” as having authority over all. In reality, he is President of all, for his base.

We can be outraged about it, but let’s be honest. A lot of folks on the left are simply jealous. When you see some like our pal Jimbo rail harder against Democrats than Republicans here, it’s because they want what Trump supporters have - a President of all Americans for the left.

That’s what our politics have descended to. Trump’s just the first guy to ride that wave. There will be others.

You're probably right, Davey. But I'm with Matt. I don't think all of us are so cynical and when I'm a captive audience and Fox is on TV, my blood truly boils. Their hypocrisy and cynicism is truly astonishing and I'm gonna keep on being mad as hell about it. I'll be holding on to my fair share of outrage for what they've done to the discourse in this country.
