This is the issue that could still kill Labour in the north. If they scupper Brexit (which is entirely possible) the communities that voted Leave/and are trad Labour - will never vote for them again.

Whereas if Brexit happens, the economy tanks, the immigration levels remain the same, are they going to switch to Tory?

You hope.

Actually, no.

I would not hope for the Labour party to be extinguished. It plays a fundamental role in British politics just like the Tories do. The destruction of a party would probably be filled by undesirables .

More undesirable than Emily Thornberry and John McDonnell?

I cannot imagine such a situation.

I'll bet some of you are going, "Yep, I l knew it was them russkies!"

Fuck your brazen attempt to keep the British people from reclaiming what is being stolen from them by an increasingly corporatist neoliberal government. Fuck your shameless “information war” which places the agendas of plutocrats and intelligence agencies above truth and honest discourse. Fuck your relentless propaganda campaign which smears anyone who remembers the lies they were told about Vietnam, Iraq and Libya as a “useful idiot” and arbitrarily labels any discussion of the very real phenomenon of false flag attacks as a “Kremlin talking point”.

What’s that Lassie?

50 white Labour MPs, including Jess Philips, who supported Ruth Smeeth have stayed silent on abuse levelled at Diane Abbott?

Oh the snakes!

The British establishment (and I include much of the Labour Party in that) is shitting itself at the prospect of a Corbyn as PM so the smear-campaigns are as relentless as they are shrill.

Do the Russians really want a Corbynite government? - I don't think all that dirty money in Knightsbridge and Mayfair (plenty of which finds its way into Tory politicians' bank accounts) would be too chuffed at the Labour Party's policies on closing tax loopholes, chasing tax avoiders and clamping down on money laundering through shell companies.

https://www.theguardian.com/business/20 ... -companies

Of course, I'm sure Putin's quite happy to do a bit of destabilising of British politics on both sides but the ST's attempt to directly connect Corbyn to Russia when you've got Russian dirty money pouring the Tory party left, right and centre is a tad laughable.

I think you are right. The Russians are much more interested in just being destabilising for the sake of it rather than acting in support of a a group of dim witted, champagne guzzling, Millionaire cod socialists.

Where do get these stupid ideas? Not to defend Russia here but destabilizing just for the fuck of it is not a plan, not a thing, even. Unless you are referring to the Putin hooligans who spray graffiti and wake up neighborhoods with un-muffled Vespas.

I am not suggesting there is a plan, or any kind of agenda. Just the sowing of doubt and mistrust is enough. They just like like fucking with the internet.

Tony Greenstein article about the weaponisation of anti-Semitism to the point where the only people who can post really anti-Semitic cartoons, like those of George Soros, are right wing Jews and even a caricature of Netanyahu is deemed anti-semitic

This sort of hysterical crap suggests that the BoD is now an organization for right wing Jewish people rather than a body representing British Jews.
I wonder if the new leader will change that.

BUMP

in anticipation of a split in the Labour Party!

It looks as though the longest rumoured split in a major British political party since the creation of the SDP almost 40 years ago will happen this morning.
The reason I think this is because last light I texted the Labour MPs Chuka Umunna, Chris Leslie, Luciana Berger and Gavin Shuker asking them if they were holding a press conference at 10.30 this morning to announce the split, and none replied.

Not Gavin Shuker! I'll be gutted if <googles> the former Shadow International Development Minister and nutter who asked for scientific proof that faith healing doesn't work</googles> is leaving Labour. Political earthquake.

In someways it is great that this bunch of careerist lightweights will now fuck off forever as they can't possibly do as much damage outside the Labour Party as in it, but in someways it is sad that the idea of a moderately centre left party upsets them so much; how the fuck did they ever become Labour Party MPs? Oh yes TB.

The Gang of Four were political heavyweights, this lot don't have name recognition in their own constituencies let alone the wider country, despite there being practically the only Labour MPs the BBC ever use for comment.

They may damage the Labour Party enough to stop them gaining power at the next election, which is surely their aim, but at least the cancerous fucksticks will be gone.

What, exactly, do they hope to achieve?

Assuming this happens, they'll ride on a wave of anti-Brexit popularity for, say, 6 months then try and amalgamate back into the Labour Party after then or if Corbyn gets assassinated.

They pretty much think Corbyn is toxic to the majority of left leaning voters.

Fucking the Labour Party by the look of it. I don't know why they don't just cross the floor to the Tories, that would be far more damaging, but I guess that is a step too far even for these rightwing shitehawks
