So just let them continue to be idiots.

A Radio 4 news producer is being questioned about why he didn't cover the Brexit marches recently. Several times he has answered with the phrase, 'in the future, we need to be alive to that' and 'we consider ourselves alive to most of these issues'

I'm sat in an American office building thumping my desk VERY HARD
You come at the Queen, you best not miss.

"love me some ____"

Oh, I love me some Beatles.

Just stop.

Aye, "(name of band) have let themselves go a bit" has let itself go a bit.

I'll be pretty fucking happy when the word 'bowl' stops getting used as a menu item.

sloop brought my attention to "efforting" (to mean trying) the other day and I'm not sure I've been the same since.

Atrocious.

I mean: I know of 'impacting' (and probably there's 'actioning' too), but 'efforting'...?

Why can such monstrosities keep on successing?

Appalling stuff.

What about “creatives,” describing (I guess) idea people. And “makers” for pretentious craft people.

Indeed! And though it seems to be acceptable these days (see other post about this), I still find 'natch' so stupid. This 'abbreviation' gives me the impression that the one using it wants to turn a rather mundane word into something warm, easy, and personal (as if he or she's already on a very good footing with the one who's being addressed).

IMHO, of course.

(Is 'IMHO' acceptable, BTW? And 'BTW' itself? My brain hurts...)
