Man, I shared a status featuring that word yesterday. It nearly kept me from sharing it but the rest of the points were really good.

I thought the Trump vs. Baby feud deserved a little unpacking.

You know it was the article and not Trump that nearly killed my phone? Trump is a toilet, but that article nearly finished me off.

Wow, sorry. It was just some lady's status. Bill her for your phone, not me.

Matt used the word "eventing" in another thread, and it took me a few seconds to realize it was just a typo and he meant "evening" - in the meantime I was thinking okay, off to the "Word Assassination" thread, let's nip this one in the bud right now...

'engage with'

I use it myself, and I know many others here do too. It's just EVERYWHERE, like fucking 'vibrant' to describe any tourist destination

"Enjoy" as a command without an object.

Enjoy the match, enjoy your meal, enjoy your day off, enjoy yourself etc etc but not 'enjoy'. Horrible. Makes my arse cheeks quiver.

I was talking about this with a friend and it seems to be a catch-all phrase that lets everyone off the hook regarding judgement. I read artist's statements and a lot of them include it as a way of saying that their work is 'about' a subject, but it sounds more active. However, it usually indicates a passive concern with no position being taken by the writer for fear of alienating or offending anyone.

'Rocking' or 'rock stars' used in the manner of the women in the video below

Mainly as it seems to be the expected response when people are championing mundane elements of their day to day life that that they are furious they have seemingly wound up responsible for in the lives they have chosen.

'Walking three dogs at 5am ... Again... Someone has to do it right guys?' *picture of them in park squinting with tiredness*
Responses: OMG you are a rock star

No srsly u are

Post: 'all four kids in bed. I have half a minute to pluck my ear hair and I'm gonna pour this gin. TGIF ladies!'
Response: OMG you are the most rocking mom!

OH GOD I need to shred my laptop
