Can we find the attribution on this? It's listed as a stock Getty image on several sites. I want to know who the photographer is.
I was curious too because it looks like a Bert Hardy, but it's actually by a photographer called Haywood Magee
Don't know much about him other than there was a 'thing' going round facebook a while ago about a WW2 paratrooper that took 'selfies' as he jumped out of the plane.

That was he. He worked for Picture Post but doesn't have a Wikipedia page.
Here's a link to a Guardian article correctly crediting the image

Thanks.
Have not heard of Magee either.
Here's another image.
It's not that Waterloo, but the one near Birmingham Cathedral.
The caption reads
You've got to wonder whether Davies knew this stuff.
Because the UK didn't appear as a major cultural force in pop music until the 1960s, I don't think most people in the States comprehend the role that 1950s played in the stuff that was produced in the 1960s, but the influence has got to be profound.

It's sad what's happened to it. It feels very jaded, cynical and snipey these days. A lot of the warmth has gone from the board.

I'm fed up with the trolls and the in-fighting spilling over on different threads.
I'm not contemplating quitting but I am spending far less time here than I use to.

I'm fed up with non-Gentle Giant-related material. It's just gotten to be a drag.

That happened when it went digital. When we used to just chalk up messages on that blackboard near Oswaldtwistle, it had real feeling and depth.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

But the obvious answer is: when we started pretending we knew what each picture of a spice or herb was.

Ah, wonderful days - when all you needed was a couple of PMs to the right people at the right time.
