Ah, yes. The elusive cement-board shears. Back when I was doing renovation-type work, one job I had was cladding the exterior of an addition I'd built in fibre cement siding. I'd have loved to have been able to get my hands on a pair of those things, but couldn't find any that I could rent anywhere, and I wasn't about to buy one just for one job. That fibre cement board is awful stuff, and just reading the health warnings is enough to give you cancer, so I wasn't too pleased when I had to cut the the stuff with a circular saw outfitted with a special blade. I had to wear a respirator and also had to attempt to keep the dust to a minimum with a vacuum cleaner. The warnings even recommended evacuating neighbouring houses while working with the stuff. If I ever get some horrible form of cancer (knock on wood) I'll have a good idea where it came from.
