US Bollocks vs UK Bollocks

Postby trans-chigley express » 29 May 2014, 00:46

Who talks the most bullshit/bollocks?

Should I exclude Yorkshire from the UK option to make it a more even contest?

US doesn't have "bollocks". We have "bullshit".

Anyone who even says the word "bollocks" is clearly more full of shit than everyone else in the world. What kind of pretentious asslicking bed-wetter uses a word like that?

Bollocks ≠ bullshit, at least semantically. Talking bollocks and bullshitting can both be one-word defined as talking nonsense, but 'talking bollocks' is a term often used with a degree of admiration for the quality of the nonsense spouted, it's weight, weave and humorous intent. If you don't like it, you tend to say 'talking shit(e)' or 'rubbish'. I've heard 'bullshitter' used affectionately this way, but 'bullshit!' always tends to be dismissive or adversarial. IMNVHO.

I voted for yeUK bollocks precisely because talking bollocks is an artform, and the great majority of USA! USA! USA! posters here don't really do it with any conviction or brio, while one or two of the UK posters have it as a first language.

Bollocks has the whiff of anatomical homo-eroticism while bullshit just stinks.

The first time I heard the word "Bullshit" was in the movie "Grizzly". Life would never be the same.
