I remember when this story broke. 2 of the bodies were dumped a couple of hundred of metres from the Dog in a Doublet pub I used to drink in and was in on the way home from work.

Numerous newspapers were calling in to the pub to see what they knew, which was fairly minimal. They hadn't seen the police presence as it was down a small lane in a very remote rural area. By the time the phone was ringing, the police had been and gone.

We thought it was some sort of turf war between travellers or drug suppliers. Quite different to what it was in the end.

A guy who allegedly set off an IRA bomb in Hyde park has cancelled a somewhat hero's welcome here in Donegal for getting away with it. If he did it.

I should think so. Look at the ticker at the top of the page.

Do you live in the BANES or North Somerset area, Prof, or is this 'local' as in UK? Only asking because I used to live that way

Technically I've transgressed the thread intention. It's from the Daily Mirror but as it's local to you, you can have the story.

It's not that local any more. I've gone abroad, to Devon, where the big news is Sandford Rocks!, our very own one day Glasto on the Millennium Green, Sandford's newly minted answer to the long-running Lapstock in Lapford, about ten miles north-west of here.
It's probably in the local papers, and they may even have a web presence, but I never see them

They've begun tearing down the last idea of how to revitalize the downtown (city center) area and make room for the next one, the new arena for the local NBA team who have been sucking doorknobs for some time now but there is also a new owner(s) and there is positivity in the air. We shall see.

The city of Sacramento is going forward with building a new arena for the local NBA team and will also be used for other events as well and if they keep up the tradition of building sporting venues that make music sound horrible in them it will be another one for me to avoid when someone I like comes to town.

Our hospital's ER got flooded again, that's twice in 2 years. The guy that designed it was dodgy but they pushed ahead with him. Simply put, they built it on the side of a hill near the main building, and dug in to said hill to create space and a hole. So when it started to rain, guess what happened.

March was severely flooded on Friday. Thankfully it was only the road where I live but the 3 nearest roads to me had houses flooded. I had no idea what I was returning to on Friday afternoon as we were receiving flood claims by phone.

My cousin was on the local TV news last night!
He was bemoaning the cancellation of the Boardriders Festival last weekend.
He runs the Pheonix pub in Watergate Bay and I imagine the festival would have brought in a lot of custom.
