Thanks. Nothing is close enough for me to be truly worried about the fire reaching me but because of the conditions being so perfect for a fire it doesn't take anything more than a spark from a lawnmower hitting a rock. Then you have the complete nutters who set fires intentionally, though thankfully I haven't heard of any of that in about a year.

I hope we get rain this fall and winter. It's going to take years of regular rain patterns to correct this situation. One year of rain will help the present but not much for the future I'm afraid. This has really changed my outlook on water and it's consumption, forever.

A rather alarming story has been big news in Hong Kong this week. Five staff from a bookshop that specialises in books banned in the mainland have gone missing and are apparently held by police in the mainland. There is no record of them having crossed the border which indicates they were abducted - basically the Chinese authorities came into Hong Kong and took them, totally against the basic law established for the handover. Even our normally spineless pro-Beijing leader CY Leung has come out and said it's bang out of order if this abduction is true. Worrying times.

53216 - Sheets (sic) Foot

My dog managed to find a juicy bone again on the common today which he refused to let go off until my husband got him home and somehow managed to release the said bones from his locked jaw. He is normally such a tame and unaggressive animal. Apparently it resembled a sheeps foot ! This is now the third time he has found bones of large animals.
Who on earth is dumping them on the common?

Uber and Lyft CUNTS are trying to bully Austin into dropping fingerprint requirements for drivers. They've essentially bought and paid for an election and have spent over $8M on misleading advertising. They frame it as whether those services can operate in Austin or not, but of course that is their choice. I've used Uber a fair few times and it's a good service, but as a corporate citizen, they are starting to smell like 19th Century swashbuckling capitalists. Who act like entitled brats.

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

Japanese Pop Star Left in Critical Condition After Being Allegedly Stabbed Over 2 Dozen Times by Male Fan

Tomita, 20, was stabbed during an event in Koganei in western Tokyo on Saturday around 5 p.m., police told KYODO. According to multiple local reports, police say that Tomohiro Iwazaki, 27, confessed to the crime and was arrested after witnesses said he attacked the young star.

According to NHK, Tomita was scheduled to perform at the event before she was attacked. The news station also reports that Tomita was stabbed in the neck, chest and back and was found unconscious. She is reportedly still in critical condition as of Sunday.

Police told Asahi Shimbun that Tomita had preciously complained to authorities about being stalked by a male fan who wrote her "obsessive" messages on social media.

Around 20 Irish traveller caravans descended on one of the town centre's car parks yesterday afternoon and set up for the night. They're using up around 50 to 80 car parking spaces, and blocking off access to the recycling bins situated nearby.

Something similar happened last year, when they turned up for a wedding. It took two weeks to move everyone on.

Prince Charles and Camilla are landing over to Donegal for the day for some reason. The usual, their family is a bunch of murdering bastards, complaints have been thrown around, but I can’t see there being any trouble.

G-7 meeting is to be held in Japan and there are cops everywhere, even in my town which is odd because we are 200 miles from the meeting site. We all are interested to hear what Obama will say in Hiroshima. He will be the first US Prez to actually speak there about the bombing.

The mayor of Tokyo, an economist for whom frugality was a byword of his campaign, was caught spending government money for a country home (not even in Tokyo county) and limousine service there and back. My wife is watching TV now and tells me an economics-themed video game he endorsed with some sage words about frugality are now selling on the internet for big money.
I love you.

The neighbourhood's going to hell!
Yesterday afternoon, a gun man fired 2 shots into the open door of a flat next to the little Sainsburys round the corner. He then sped off by motorbike. Armed police later were all over the place, roads blocked, buses diverted and raided the flat.
That's all I know so far, there is no word of any injuries.
