Love it but do you know how PB is made? It couldn't be simpler. You grind up peanuts and then add oil and salt and sugar. PB contains a lot of oil. Very bad stuff.

I thought it was meant to be good for you, very nutritious, as sweet spreads go. I've just had organic pb.

I guess.

Did you hear about the recent Nutella lawsuit in the states where a mother sued the company and won for false advertising because they said it was good for kids and it isn't.

That's amazing, what you can sue for. I remember a lady sueing McD's because she spilt hot water on herself and scalded herself.

Misleading advertising.

And the McDs suit was not frivolous. There was a documentary about the case. It was McDs PR firm which put out the frivolous meme to lessen the bad press. The woman was elderly and because of poor cup design and that they sold their coffee scaldingly hot and she had burned herself so horribly she needed skin grafts. You think it is silly because a large corporation made it so.

My father used to tell me anyone can sue but winning was another matter.

I grew up with sweetened smooth peanut butter - peanut butter and jelly sandwiches were a staple of my childhood - but now I can't touch that stuff. It's gotta be the organic, unsweetened stuff these days. I still love it, but don't eat nearly as much as I used to.

Crunchy is the only way and I am frankly shocked that anyone would consider otherwise.

And as for people who butter their bread before putting the peanut butter on...

What is up with those chocolate sprinkles on bread when they belong on a scoop of ice cream.

In Denmark they take it a step further, and simply sprinkle sugar on the white bread.

The good ones keep the natural peanut oil in the mix. The cheap brands extract the precious peanut oil and replace it with inferior veg oil and that's just nasty.

I used to make this, profusively. I've stopped:

- toast white bread
- spread butter
- spread peanut butter, generously
- slice a banana and distribute more or less envenly on top of the peanut butter.
- sprinkle white sugar on the lot.
- gobble away
- repeat

It's a wonder I'm not obese.

usually chunky with salt on, but I can do smooth just as easily.

Lately on toasted rolls with creole seasoning and processed cheese squares.
And if you tolerate this then your children will be next

I love the crunchy version but thanks to a complete upper set of teeth that's been replaced by a denture and to a bottom set full of fillings, I have to have the smooth one nowadays.
I've also had to curb my intake of roasted peanuts for the same reason but can still manage quite nicely with cashews instead. Hang the expense.
