I worked with him for two years and never mentioned it and I got the sneaky sense it wasn't going to get paid back.
Around Xmas time three years later after the loan, I told him to consider the loan an Xmas present. I saw him on and off out of work a few times during the ensuing years.
I actually recruited the guy to work for another company I was at around 2012 and worked with him for about a year where we worked very closely together. Years have gone on and he now makes way more money than me. I'm not angry, but I thought he could be a mensch if he recalled it and offered to repay it since he makes so much more now. Maybe he doesn't remember it.
