I put on heels for work, and then tried to drive in them, something I haven’t done since about mid March. What a debacle!

Believe me when I tell you that ploughing into joggers while shrieking ‘sorry sorry sorry’ is not anything you need to see!

Hello Norm!

Sorry gang, I didn't lose interest... It all just went a bit mad here. As some of you know already, Mummy fell and broke her leg. And now she's in hospital, very confused and not doing too well.

The hospital was pushing for a nursing home but obviously that isn't going to happen so we've bartered with the hospital that she can come home (to Ethna's house) if they give us a full care package (2 workers, 4 times a day) & all the equipment. They agreed so that's where we are now. She can't stay in there much longer.

Ahhh Beebs, not a pleasant situation, that's for sure. Are you able to visit her while she's n hospital? Here, it's an extremely difficult to achieve these days. Your relative basically needs to be on his/her last breaths before they will let you in, fully garbed of course.

Take care dear. Sending you and yours my best wishes that all works out for the best.

Listening to the John and Mary Show while Rebecca makes beef pasties. Her baking skills are pretty great so I'm looking forward to dinner.

This could have gone on quite a few threads here, but this is random enough to belong here methinks.

So, I am a complete idiot. Yesterday at the grocery store, I passed by the cart or two that the store is liquidating because, usually, they have a small amount left and will not be replaced. These things usually sell for ridiculously low prices, but I rarely pick anything up from them (not much of an impulse shopper I guess).

But yesterday, there was a cart full of 200g boxes of truffles that usually go for about C$5, marked down to C$1.25. Best before date June 2021! I love truffles. Who doesn't? So, the idiot, ahem me, picked up ONE box. ONE!!! I had almost nothing to carry for the one block from the store to home. WHAT WAS I THINKING?!?!?!?!?! Idjit.

We've had some protesting going on in town like many other cities across the U.S. with some violence but nothing like Minneapolis. Friday night Rebecca and I heard a helicopter overhead late in the evening as we lay in bed. There were no instructions or requests being shouted via bullhorn as one might expect from a police copter but we learned the next morning it had been a news helicopter covering the protest and they had stopped on an overpass of a highway that was about three blocks from the house. It was generally peaceful though and it eventually dispersed in the early morning hours.

I am at the Black Lives Matter rally in Brisbane with my 2 girls this afternoon, protesting the treatment of our First Nations people and the shameful number of Indigenous Australians who die while in police custody or in government "care".

Great to see so many Australians out here, wearing face masks and making their voices heard.

A few days ago I noticed a strange smell in the greenhouse when I went in to get birdseed. It smelt a bit like animal piss, but I couldn't work out which animal. The back panel of the greenhouse has come loose and I have had several unsuccessful attempts at trying to seal it, block it and replace it, but squirrels and/or raccoons and/or rats have been getting in the very narrow gap, chewing through the sealed bags and then running off full of birdseed. I assumed they had been pissing or crapping in there hence the smell.

Today I went in to clean it. As I approached it, I saw flies all buzzing round the inside like flakes in a snow globe, all battering against the windows. On opening, apart from the two inch deep pile of nut shells, was a thick, black, tarry lump which was either shit or a dead rat - I think the latter- at the bottom of one of the seed barrels, covered in wriggling fly larva and giving off a smell unlike anything I have ever smelt - and I've smelt some rancid shit in my time. I lifted up the container at which point the liquid stuff drizzled out the bottom of the container, onto the floor and all over the other bags of food. I literally had to gather up everything and put it in the rubbish bin, take everything out the greenhouse, sweep and bleach everything to fuck. I then duct taped up the greenhouse panel and balanced lots of heavy objects against their access point, in a manner so amateur it looks like Wile E Coyote has done it.

This was all made the more pleasant by a screaming hangover and a 95 degree sun. I don't recommend it.

You brave woman! I'm surprised you didn't " toss your cookies" before you finished the task or maybe you did but didn't share that particular part. :)

Don't get me started. I trudged all the way in to the office to access the Wi-Fi and additional resources (HelpDesk...). I need to transfer everything from my old iPhone5 to my new iPhone7 so that I can continue logging in remotely. The only way I can do it is though my phone.

Anyway, when got there, I watched a couple of videos on how to do it, just in case. Then I found the Wi-Fi was refusing me access. Called the HelpDesk who were completely helpless. Eventually, it decided that I was OK after all and let me in. I got through the process about 60% but ran into trouble. So I packed up my stuff and headed home. So frustrating.
