I went to a jam session with some newish friends last night and at the end of the night the guitarist asked me to play at his gig at Two Rivers in April.

It is the year we should be grateful for what we do have.

School is canceled for the next two weeks, so are church services, sports, etc. Sitting here listening to Chris Squire's Fish out of Water in 5.1 (been on a surround sound kick lately) and thinking about taking a walk for a bit of exercise. Methinks the next few weeks will be dull, frankly.

Considering your choice of music, I think so too.

It could be worse. I could be playing Kate Bush or God forbid, Crowded House.

Re: MORE random stuff about your day
We escaped to Northern Sonoma County (Fort Ross/Salt Point) yesterday for three nights. Probably seems crazy with the situation but we're not in a big hotel and this place that only has about fifteen units in groups of four or five spread over the property only has us and one other guest. We did eat in a restaurant a mile away last night but the patronage was light, about eight tables and the tables were separated by at least six feet. We are eating in our room the next three days as we have a Weber grill and we brought plenty of food (halibut tonight, pork chops tomorrow). This is a very remote part of this coast even in the summer relative to the area so it will be even more devoid of beachcombers this week. We'll be heading home on Thursday and back to city madness. Until then we are enjoying being at the ocean for a change.

Local supermarkets are finally limiting the amounts of products such as hand soap and toilet paper that you can purchase at one time. Also, one store has marked their floor with silver tape and has written that you should "stand here" so that people aren't standing on lines invading the "safe" space of others.

Continuing the (no) pasta theme, 5 year old penne pasta from the Co-op cooks and tastes just fine.
I'll probably regret writing this.

The recipe is a veggie lasagne. Thinly sliced aubergine replaces the pasta. The filing is ricotta/mozarella/parmesan/egg mixture and tomatoes with garlic and pepper flakes.

Great humorless lasagna recipe.
K-Paul's in New Orleans had/has a deli above the restaurant that was/is open for lunch. I used to go there often to pick up lunch and often chatted with Paul when he was around. He recommended his "Lasagna Po-boy" which was a po-boy with all the ingredients of lasagna except for the pasta. It was great but very spicy.
The Deli was a great place. At some point, it was closed and then reopened.

Re: MORE random stuff about your day
My local German sausage maker had a fire while we were at the coast last week which caused $50K worth of damage. They were already having a little trouble despite being one of the best places in Northern California for bacon, sausage, etc. Between the fire and Covid 19 this probably spells the end though I hope to be proven wrong.

The new (since my uncle's passing at 94 years in Jan.) head of the paternal side of my family, my eldest cousin, is now marshalling the troops on FaceBook over several time zones and continents. It's a lovely respite to hear a family FB ping when I'm doing what I need to on line.

Re: MORE random stuff about your day
I just made up a knock knock joke.
Knock knock.
Who's there?
Butternut.
Butternut who?
You butternut come home drunk agin, you rascal!
And while I'm on the subject, last week in the park upon seeing a beech tree (and learning it was a beech tree) my wife stumbled upon this tongue twister. Say this three times fast.
Beech bark birch bark.
